Work-at-home-Mom Caught Porn-Spamming!

Now if this doesnt blow you away, I dont know what will!

The link to this news article was actually shared on my Discussion Forum this week. I clicked through to check it out, and was SHOCKED - because let me tell you, it goes from bad to worse 😆

Here's the link to the article on Yahoo News!:
Work-at-home Mom Pleads Guilty To Massive Porn Spamming

Jennifer is a "WAHM" who runs MommyJobs.com (yes, that's in addition to the spam/porn involvement)... but it turns out that she is not even a "mom"! She admits that she lied about being a mother to everyone on her "wahm site" just for the sake of credibility with other work at home mom's...

Talk about back-firing 😯

Jennifer makes a full confession on her own discussion forum at MommyJobs.com, which I decided to read. It appeared to explain a lot, and gave much more detail about the events that led up to it all.

The thing that got me, though, was this statement (quoted from her forum post):

I made a promise to God. I told him that I would stop working with the adult themed material as long as he helped me become a success with my non-adult sites (mommyjobs.com and my other sites). So far I am doing really well financially and able to support myself when things came tumbling down....

For starters, I dont believe in 'making a wager' with God. "I will only do right by you if you help me become financially successful" (laugh) - I dont think so! And according to the News Article (linked above), she is not holding good on that 'deal'...

Those sites, however, include numerous porn and porn-related sites. Phatbucks.com, Galleriesblog.com, and Contentshopper.com are all registered to a company called Coast To Coast Cash, and to a "Wendy Miller." As it turns out, so is Clason's MommyJobs.com. In a press release she issued in January to mark the launch of MommyJobs, Clason wrote "MommyJobs.com is a Coast To Coast Cash site venture."

Hmmm 😐

New Information...

Well, I've been a bit 'enlightened' this afternoon, so I thought I'd come back and share some new information with you on this same topic. First of all, Rae made a great point on my discussion forum, which was this:

>>>Work At Home Mom Just Got Nailed For Promoting Porn! That is *NOT* what she got "nailed" for. Last I checked, porn was legal. She got nailed for sending out email spam which is not. Replace porn with pills, rolexes, hair loss - she got nailed for email spam. It amazes me that more people are talking about her promoting porn then breaking the dang law. Who cares *what* she spammed. She's an email spammer. That's why she is in trouble. WHAT she spammed has no relevance at all.

I agree with that - It's the spamming that was illegal. The porn issue is a hot one for the "wahm community" though, and there were other issues that caused this woman 'trouble' outside of her legal problems. Lying to people who have come to trust and respect you, in addition to porn involvement, is definitely going to tarnish your reputation in the "work at home mom" groups. Or at least you would think so.

As it turns out, she has a group of 'followers' that are defending her emphatically. This was brought to my attention as sort of a 'warning' that I might be next on the list for a flaming. Interesting, and it brings up some interesting questions or points for discussion.

Let me clue you in on the details first: Kelly McCausey posted about this same issue on her WAHM Talk Radio Blog, which you can see here: When Someone Is Caught In A Lie. I thought the post itself was tasteful (probably much more so than mine here 😆 )... but then I was really shocked as I read further down and saw each of the comments left there!

Jennifer Clason herself (if that is even her real name??) even took the time to post. Of particular interest was this portion of her comment:

This is between me and God. None of you here are God! None of you have the right to judge. God is giving me the strength to get rid of those sites and make a go of my non-porn sites. And this was before I was in trouble with the government. So until I can fully support my family on my non-porn sites, I will continue to keep the residual income of my porn sites. It’s NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

The continual references to God really bother me. Personally, I feel a time like that calls for a leap of faith - but that's just me. The whole thing is sad, really. Especially the tone of the comments on Kelly's blog post, which seems incredibly strong. Defensive is what it is, I guess. Read what Kelly wrote in the original post, and then read the comments that followed - tell me what you think.

The question that this raises, for me anyway, is whether there is a line drawn about what you should and shouldnt blog about. As for me, I'm likely to post whatever comes to my attention, whatever happens to be on my mind, or even what I'm having for lunch. This story shocked me, and I thought it would make for interesting discussion - so here it is.

That's what blogging is all about, right? I wouldnt share my best friends biggest secret, or flame someone just for the fun of it... but talking about issues that are hitting the media, and sharing our thoughts and feelings on it all - well, that's fair game for bloggers.

Or is it?

My take? If I'm going to get flamed by the "Clason Groupies" - hey, bring it on. In fact, I'll tell you upfront what I think about it all:

People who lie and deceive others are a special breed. They are not to be trusted. Ask yourself this: What kind of a person would live a complete lie on the internet, for the sake of winning your approval and making themselves wealthy in the process?

Have you ever known a pathological liar in your own personal life? Someone who deceived you, made you feel foolish when you looked back on it? I have. And it made me wonder who that person really was in the end - and how in the world they could live with themselves... or what kind of terrible problem they must have to behave that way.

It's not normal.

To be honest with you, the whole "porn thing" is not the biggest issue here. At least not for me. Like Rae pointed out, it's not illegal... and let's face it - a lot of people are involved in that industry for the sake of making some fast money. "Whatever"

(spamming - or any other illegal activity - is another matter of course)

What bothers me is the deceit, lies... and the attitude. It's very strong, negative and defensive. She defiantly claims her continued association with porn work, and discusses her relationship (and "deal") with God in the same breath.

None of this sits right with me. In fact, I think it's incredibly sad. Of course, it makes me no difference. I dont know her, and am not associated with her in any way. I just found the 'aftermath' of this whole story quite interesting, and 'worth blogging about'.

Your thoughts?

I have a feeling this post could come back to haunt me, LOL!

  1. This is pretty sad, but I love the *deal* with God bit - I can't believe anyone would be dumb enough to publish something that stupid to the rest of the world. I wonder what deal she'll broker with God to get her out of jail???

Glad to see a little justice served once in a while...

  2. Learning says

    Hi Lynn,
I agree with you 100%. Many people are out there deceiving to earn a buck . They forget there is an eternal consequence to their actions and have lost the fear of God. I'm glad you posted this article to expose the lies.
    Keep up the good work;)
