Free Blog Marketing Widget

John Reese has just officially launched BlogRush, a free blog widget that will promote your blog posts on related blogs across the internet.

This just launched today, September 15th 2007, and if you blog you’ll want to sign up right away and add the code to your blog ASAP.

It is free to register your blog in the network and add the widget, and the key to getting loads of free traffic from this is to get in early…

BlogRush is a viral blog marketing tool that will display relevant blog posts in a small widget that you place in your sidebar. Its easy to set up, with a short piece of copy & paste code. You can see an example in the sidebar here at ClickNewz.

Each time the widget is viewed on your blog, you earn “points” towards getting your blog posts displayed on other relevant blogs in the blogosphere. You’ll also earn views when new people sign up for BlogRush by clicking on the widget (ie your referrals).

When one of your visitors clicks on one of the links in the BlogRush widget, that blog post opens in a new window. So you arent losing any traffic, and you stand to gain a lot of new traffic.

You earn views up to 10 levels deep, so the key is to get in NOW

I’ll be testing this widget here at ClickNewz, as well as on other blogs (in various niches) and will report back on the success of this tool as a means of successfully promoting blogs. Thanks for the heads up on this. I was looking for something to replace Real Traffic Exchange, the Jon Leger program. I like that this is a sidebar widget and the use of post title, very different.

Great! It’s a really neat little social networking tool. I find myself checking it each time I’m viewing a page on my own blog - and have clicked through several times to interesting posts. Loving it so far!

Hey Lynn,
Glad to see you’re joining the blog rush. I was a little late to the ballgame, but actually ended up doing a couple WordPress video tutorials for anyone who’s trying to add the widget to their blog.

Just curious, though, did you have any problems? When I clicked on the link stating that I’d added the code to my blog, I continued to receive an error saying, “please add the code to your blog”. I chalked it up to growing pains, but now I’m beginning to wonder.

Yep - this one is a really good one from John - it’s awesome that he’s thought of this and actually done it…

Just as an aside - I registered without a problem except for when you do the last submission it goes to a page with a lot of code on it (teething problems I presume). In that case all you need to do is delete the URL up to its previous directory and refresh your screen - and you’ll get back into your dashboard.

Hope that helps a little, although I’m sure these will be ironed out soon.

I did get registered. I actually had to go to another page - settings - to add my blog.

One more question - does our referral link come automatically in the blog rush link at the bottom? Or do we have to change it somehow?

I had problems loading it, too, Teli.

The instructions are easy to follow but the code just doesnt stick in there. Am waiting for a repsonse from BlogRush to see if they can help - no reply yet.

I see the value in blog traffic, obviously, but am not sure about linking to other blogs that could actually offer a competitive service to me - I wouldn’t add their links to my site after all. What does everyone else think about this?
