A Newbie’s Perspective: Sandy Offers To Share All

Sandy Naidu considers herself a “Newbie” in the Internet Marketing industry. She is a fairly new member to my discussion forum, and also recently began joining in with her comments here at ClickNewz. That is her that you see in the picture to the left, working from her home office. Hi Sandy! :)

Sometimes we get so caught up in our isolated world that is conveniently contained within our home office space, that we lose touch with “the real world” – or at least with their perspective. I think it pays to step back and view things outside of your own realm from time to time, and get feedback from others.

I recently had a conversation with a friend that has an offline business and a related website, but that didnt really “get” this whole secret world of Internet Marketing. And until the 20+ comments that followed my blog post about that conversation, he didnt realize just how widespread “the phenomenon” was…

My mother is one of the people that I go to for an outside perspective. She uses Web TV, has a PayPal account, and shops online. She doesnt have an interest in working online, but she does read ClickNewz and likes to keep up with what I am doing… (Hi Mom! :) )

I love to hear how she does searches, what she thinks of the search results, what types of things interest her and what types of things frustrate her – as an end user that shops online. You just cant get better market research!

So when Sandy Naidu expressed an interest in the recent Cross Blog Conversations, I asked her if she had a blog of her own. Her response was:

I do have a blog. I am a newbie in this industry though – so am not sure if I am eligible. I have been working on my own for 5 years now. I moved into internet marketing less than 6 months ago. If you are after a newbie’s perspective on something in this industry please count me in…

Do we want a newbies perspective? Most definitely! I for one would love to hear her thoughts on a number of topics. So give Sandy a warm welcome, as she is now officially the “Resident Newbie” – ready and willing to share her perspective as someone just entering the Internet Marketing world.

My first (2-Part) question to Sandy is:

In your bio, you mentioned that you were originally inspired to start Internet Marketing by WahmTalkRadio. Can you tell us what “Internet Marketing” means to you – as in, how do you define it? And also, once you were introduced to IM, where did you turn first to learn more – and what did you find?

(Watch Sandy’s Blog for the reply)

While we are waiting on Sandy’s reply, I’d love to hear the questions that you would ask a “newbie”. Do you want to know her perspective on certain products, certain strategies, certain websites – or what would you ask to get in the mind of an IM newbie?

Best,

  3. Hi Sandy,

What area(s) of internet marketing do you find most difficult or more challenging?

What are the areas you find easier?

Have you started making money? If yes, what are your most loved niches and marketing tactics you can recommend to fellow newbies?

    Thanks

    Hello There,

Implementing the right strategies to start making money is often the most difficult one. Let me give an example – ‘adsense’. We all know that adsense is a good way of earning passive income. But finding out the best way of using adsense on your website so that you can make a decent amount of money is often tough. This is where information products come in…
Things I find easier: There is a huge learning curve for everyone in the initial days I guess. But on any topic once I research and find out more information I eventually get comfortable with it. So learning is the key.

Yes, I have started making money. Not full time income though.

I love blogging (contrary to all my initial expectations). I want to have a couple of more websites – not sure on what topics yet but have a few ideas. One thing I am keen on is that whatever site I come up with – it has to target a specific sub niche. It cant cater to all the needs of a group of people. I want to narrow it down. Hope that makes sense.

My biggest lesson so far is that I have to spend (Spend wisely) to make money. Affiliate marketing for example – my interest is to concentrate on information products. I have now come to the realization that I cant just recommend anything and everything (though its tempting). I have to buy it first, study it, implement it and then write a recommendation (if I like it). This often gets more sales. Another important thing is that information products are valuable. Not everything is free. If you buy the right product you will always end up with atleast 3 to 4 golden nuggets which can make you money.

  7. Thanks Sandy,

Your response comes very useful and insightful. You sound like someone ready to make good money online.

However, when you said, “Yes, I have started making money. Not full time income though.”

Now what do you regard as “full time income”?

  8. Sandy Naidu says:

I am currently working full time (almost fulltime – in between taking care of my little ones) on it but the money I am making is compensating me for only say 2 days of my work. I would like to increase that.
