Hi Lynn,
How do you keep up with the numerous questions if the members can talk using their mic too?
I’ve done the online meeting, but typed version and yes, some clients prefer it to be in audio or even video). My group ranges from 10 to 40 people at 1 go and yes it can be a little confusing for the newbies.

Oh, that’s easy - I just hog the Mic
Just kidding, Fione - LOL. I dont turn on the Full Duplex feature, so only one person can speak at a time. Most of the participants seem to prefer typing in their questions. But those that participate in the audio simply click the Mic and wait in the queue for their turn to speak.
The webinar I host includes a browser where I do live demonstrations, a text chat for discussion and Q&A and also the Audio.
It can be a bit of multi-tasking, but I just go with it - and the group is very forgiving if I stall for a sec while I catch up with everything that is going on at once.
Its fun actually. Join us if you can! Today will be a bit more laid back than the last couple of webinars, as its simply an Open Q&A instead of a specific topic with prepared presentation.

Hey Lynn,
I just had a question: how successful are these webinars do you think? Have they been something that have helped your business in the long run?
Also, do they seem to work (if you know this or not) for only particular niches, or can any niche be held on a webinar?
Thanks,
Gary
Lynn Terry // Dec 4, 2007 at 11:23 am
I would certainly test it in other niches - it is definitely a successful way to reach your target market and gain credibility and trust with them.
Yes, they have been great for my business. Though I have always been “out there” as far as being personally available. But my readers really seem to love the live interaction and the audio/video versus the usual ‘text’.

Hi, thanks for the reminder … I’ll have to pass on tonight’s Webinar since it’s the first night of Chanukah. Time for a little family time. But I’ll look forward to hearing the recording later.
If I may, can I ask a “virtual” question, even though I won’t be there tonight? I’m curious to hear some discussion about the whys & hows of building a niche affiliate site with BANS, and/or Static Blogging.
I hope to be developing two sites over the next few months, both shopping sites for physical non-IM consumer goods … along the same lines as your darts site. I’m curious what would be the best approach to take, and both BANS and Static Blogging seem useful in that regard.
Thanks, and I’ll look forward to next week’s webinar. Happy Chanukah!

What the main topic to be discuss in this webinar? Is that only for telling the speaker how much money they made? I ve attend many webinar but many of them its crap…they talked about themselves more then what can audience get…
Tuppy Glossop // Dec 4, 2007 at 2:42 pm
That’s NEVER the case with Lynn … these are amongst the most informative and non-self-promotional seminars I’ve ever heard.
Lynn Terry // Dec 4, 2007 at 6:31 pm
LOL - I dont think I mentioned how much money I make today, or in any other session. You’ll have to attend one and see for yourself!
Lynn Terry // Dec 4, 2007 at 6:35 pm
Hi Tuppy,
Thanks for your post above. Ironically most of the questions in today’s webinar WERE about the BANS product! Deciding between that and Static Blogging comes down to what you want to create. Obviously you see that I am using both - and I have plenty more sites behind the scenes on a variety of models.
BANS is great for creating a niche affiliate site around eBay’s affiliate program. StaticBlogging is great for developing ANY kind of website. Whether it is a sales site, an affiliate site, a content site… you name it. It is more of a website with blog features, or a blog with website features.
BANS, on the other hand, is for creating affiliate sites around certain product categories. While you could easily add other affiliate programs and products, and plenty of content pages, its not really set up like a blog at all.
I love them both - but each for their individual features in creating specific types of sites!
Tuppy Glossop // Dec 5, 2007 at 1:10 am
Then if I can follow-up with a question? How would you decide which niche might be well served by BANS?
To use your darts site as an example again: Would darts have been a good niche for a BANS eBay affiliate site? If you were creating the site today, would you do it that way instead?
I suspect that one aspect of the decision is the commission rate … for one of the niches I’m hoping to develop, I have a vendor that pays 20% of the item cost as an affiliate commission.
Even allowing for the value of the eBay brand name, I imagine that I’d have trouble selling enough product through eBay at a lower commission rate to make up that difference.
But I’m still curious to know if there are other factosr you’d consider when choosing whether or not to use BANS in a given nice.
(BTW, if you’d prefer to switch this conversation to SSWT just tell me … don’t want to feel like I’m hijacking your blog comments!)
Lynn Terry // Dec 5, 2007 at 1:44 am
That’s a great question, actually.
My dart site is monetized by NetShops, which pays 10-12% commission on product sales.
The musical instruments site is monetized by eBay, which pays a small percentage of eBay’s profit per sale. I intend to add products from other affiliate programs as well down the road, of course - but the core of the site is based around eBay’s affiliate program.
You could easily add a blog to your BANS site. You could easily add a BANS store to your current website or blog.
My initial response would be: Static Blogging for a site you are more personally involved with, BANS for creating quick niche affiliate sites in ANY niche. But thats not really true - as both offer so much functionality you could go either way with that…
I suppose - since you’ve called me out on this lol - I would have to say that BANS is easier. More for the newbie, and also much quicker for actual development. Static Blogging is more complex, but it also offers more perks (feeds, commenting, all that cool Web 2.0 stuff).
I didnt help at all, did I?
mij // Dec 5, 2007 at 1:16 pm
I couldn’t login to SSW for some reason so I figured it would be just as viable here….I’m just all over the place. Aff. Marketing, PPC Classroom, Static Blogging, BANs, SEO, PPC. I want to start somewhere and just go with it. At this current time where’s the best place 2 start?
Lynn Terry // Dec 5, 2007 at 1:34 pm
Let me know your username and I will take care of that for you
If you want fast & easy, I would start with BANS. As you know, I have my hands in most of those same honeypots… and I cant recommend BANS highly enough for a quick start.
Regardless though, you are right - you have to pick just ONE and go with it start to finish. That’s the only real way to succeed!
I had the Special Offer on BANS extended until tomorrow, and I have published a full FAQ from my readers on it here:
http://www.clicknewz.com/1239/bans-faq/
Check that out and see what you think.
Tuppy Glossop // Dec 5, 2007 at 3:12 pm
No, you definitely helped, thanks. And the FAQ was very helpful.
All this talk about BANS, I was just about to pull out my credit card & buy it when I remembered … I already bought it, over a year ago! I used it as an add-on for a sadly neglected site that may not be worth the effort to revive (not the fault of BANS, just a too-small & under-monetizable niche).
It’s a tribute to their customer service that they were able to find my account and send me a download link to get the updated manual & files.
Lynn Terry // Dec 5, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Excellent! Yes, I am VERY impressed with their service & support. The members only forum is a valuable resource on its own. Glad you’re “in”

The webinars have been great but since I start a new p/t job tomorrow, I’ll have to miss it. It may be too much of an imposition on your time but I’m just wondering if you have or would consider having them in the evenings or week ends? Just hate to miss them!
Lynn Terry // Dec 10, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Hi Martha,
I would love to, but my children are home in the evenings, and their schedules keep me on the go after school hours. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for an opportunity to do that though, particularly in the New Year, and see what I can do
Tuppy Glossop // Dec 11, 2007 at 12:26 am
Personally, I LOVE that the seminars are during the day … because I live several time zones ahead of the USA (I’m in Israel) an evening seminar means 3:00 am for me.
So just to put my two cents in : Please don’t switch them to the evenings. (But I entirely understand the difficulty of the current time for other people.)
Lynn Terry // Dec 11, 2007 at 6:27 am
Thank you, Tuppy - it helps to hear from a variety of people on the matter of the timing. I actually did a poll with all of my readers (across blog, newsletter, forum, etc) and the majority voted “Noon EST” by a long shot.
Fortunately that is a great time for me as well. But I was considering doing an additional evening event ocassionally - not to replace the Tuesday time slot, but perhaps once a month I could choose an evening slot to host an event too. I’m keeping it open and giving it some consideration.
Martha D // Dec 11, 2007 at 8:40 am
I understand the time constraints for all and personally love the current afternoon session too. Just that since I now have to take this afternoon p/t job I’ll be missing it and it’s been so helpful. I was just wondering (selfishly), that’s all - not trying to change or inconvenient everyone else. Anyway, I just joined your Elite site so I guess I’ll be able to listen to the recorded sessions when I get home! Yea!!
Lynn Terry // Dec 11, 2007 at 8:31 pm
Like I said, I’ll definitely keep it in mind. If all goes well with my house deal, I may be able to pull it off more easily in my new home office
