Day 10. Pitch a link to one of your blog posts to three other blogs in your niche. Take the most popular post on your blog and pass along the link to the bloggers behind three popular blogs in your niche. If they like it, they may link to it in their next link round-up.

This is a strategy I’ve seen firsthand, as I’ve received a good number of emails over the last couple of years from other bloggers. The email usually goes something like this…

Hi Lynn,

We have just published a new article on social networking that your ClickNewz readers might enjoy: Getting Started With Social Networking: 7 Simple Steps.

Best,
John Doe

I actually love these emails. They are short and to the point, and almost always give me something good to link to or blog about.

There a few points to keep in mind…

Know your blogger and address them personally, mentioning both their name and their blog name in the message. Also use a subject line that will get their attention (”For Lynn at ClickNewz”, for example). Keep your email short, and dont over-explain or make suggestions on how they use the link - good bloggers know exactly where to take it from there.

If you find a resource list that is popular, you can send a post to the author of that list. Getting included on a featured list like that can be great for traffic & exposure.

It wouldnt hurt to search out resource lists in your niche and write articles that could potentially get included. At the very least you can trackback them, or leave a comment there linking back to your related article.

If you dont already have an excellent article in your blog archives that might get linked to or blogged about… it’s time to sit down and write one
