Netflix…
A recent post on my discussion forum, titled Favorite Movies, inspired me to finally sign up for a Netflix account. I’m an affiliate for Netflix, and I have friends and family that rave about them, but I had just never gotten around to signing up myself.
Our local BlockBuster went out of business though, and left me high and dry on movies… and I noticed that Netflix was still offering the free trial. So I decided to try it out. (Am I the last one to do this or what?
)
You have to admit – it’s a much better deal on rentals anyway.
So I started out with the trial Netflix package that offers unlimited DVDs – which basically means as fast I can watch them and ship them back equals how many I can order in a month. I am expecting my first movie to show up today (shipped yesterday), so we’ll see what the turnaround time is in my area.
I was really impressed with their website and with the whole process. The sign up was quick and easy (a few seconds) and the layout and search feature make it super simple to find movies and add them to your list. You can even re-order your list and move DVDs to the top that you want to see before others.
The follow-up emails are timely, the suggestions are right on target… and I can see how this would get seriously addictive!
One of the things I’ve already decided I LOVE about Netflix (besides not having to leave the house, which is a HUGE plus lol) is that they offer such a good variety. Even the older movies that are my all time favorites that I can never find in local movie stores (like Somersby).
Really, I think Netflix was a genius idea! What about you? Have you tried it? Did you fall in love with it? If you havent signed up, what was the reason?
I’m curious, because as an affiliate it never seemed to convert well (or maybe that one’s on me) – but as a customer, I think it’s a great deal and I’m super happy with the service…

P.S. My movie showed up while I was typing this. Wow – that was quick

It’s a very interesting post about how could a firm offer its services, to make all at the highest level of professionalism. I thank you for telling us where we could easily find the great movies from the past.
We have a Netflix membership and just love it! Now, with working at home, Netflix, ordering my favorite stuff online, and Domino’s pizza, there’s almost no need to leave the house anymore.
And yes, it is seriously addictive….wait until you have 200+ movies on your queue with virtually no time to watch them all!

You’re welcome, Art
I agree, Jen – and I am starting to wonder if this is a good thing LOL. But it must be… because I am loving it

I’ve been a member of Netfix for over a year and have enjoyed it. We still go to the local video store occassionally but are very bad about returning movies late and getting big late fees!
The only problems we’ve had with Netflix is that in the past few months it seems that delivery times have slowed a bit, and we have gotten several damaged or mislabeled DVDs. That can be a bit frustrating, esp. if you’re on the 1 or 2 at a time plans and then you have to wait a week for the replacement.
Otherwise it’s been great. Like you mentioned you can DVDs that are not in the video store like classics, non-US and TV series. It’s so easy, just add them to your queue and they arrive by mail.
I had the same problem with local rentals and getting late fee’s. Not to mention movies not being in stock or them not having certain titles at all.
I have already recieved, watched and returned my first movie… and I am looking forward to getting the rest on my list.
And I agree – it’s really nice to be able to order tv series!

Great Service, Selection and even price if you factor in the cost of personally getting and returning any DVD’s. Plus NO Late Fees ever.
Granted not everyone takes great care in handling your selected DVD(think, USPS) and sometimes previous viewers have not been pristine in handing of the DVD(as in clean using proper procedure).
The advantages far outweigh any Cons that pop up.

I’d had those experiences with the local movie store too (namely BlockBuster) so I know firsthand how irritating that can be when you get ready to settle down for a good movie… that wont work.
It really is a great deal for the rates that they offer though, compared to what I was paying locally… and it’s nice to constantly have something to look forward to!
Any movie recommendations?

Hey Lynn!
I just finished my 2 week free trial with NetFlix and they now have a NEW long term customer. I’m on the three-at-a-time plan. I always hated dealing with the local rental places. NetFlix process is remarkable. No late fees and they even pay for the return postage.
I guess I’m fortunate that one of their warehouses is in Massachusetts … NOT too far from me here in li’l ol’ Rhode Island.
THREE thumbs up for NetFlix! LOLOL
Have A GREAT Week!

I have another movie arriving today – Looking forward to it!
I like that they email you with updates when they receive your movie back and when to expect your next arrival. The follow-up and contact system makes the customer experience flawless!

[...] I signed up for Netflix a little over two months ago (see my original post) and have been incredibly happy with them from day one. The features I enjoy most being fast shipping and email notification. [...]
