BABB-27: Spend 2 Hours Writing A Blog Post

Today is Day 27 of the Be A Better Blogger series. We’re using the outline offered by Collis Ta’eed in an article titled 31 Days To Becoming A Better Blogger, and our topic for the day is:

Day 27. Spend two hours or more on a single blog post. If you spend a lot of time on a single post you’re likely to end up with a lot of value in one place. Investing extra time in a post can result in some pretty cool rewards…

I’m curious how long you usually spend writing a single blog post? For me it depends on the type of post – some may take me as little as 5-10 minutes, others I’ve been known to spend an hour or two easily.

This task – sitting down to spend a couple of hours writing a single blog post – is actually a great opportunity to do a little catching up if you are behind on our daily series. You might block off this time to write a guest post for another blog, for example, or work on your resource list.

One really great article or blog post can generate awesome long-term results. My BANS Review for example, a 3-part review I spent several hours on, ranks #2 & 3 on Google which brings in a consistent stream of targeted traffic and additional sales. A great blog post is going to get blogged about, linked to and ranked well – which is one very good reason to invest the time on them.

If you’ve already written your guest post and created your resource list, take this opportunity to write a great review or tutorial – or an evergreen article of some kind that will continue to bring you traffic and sales for months to come.

If you’re stuck on a topic to write about, refer back to the recent reference to blog post ideas ;)

I agree. Many of the tips are great ways to consistently manage your blog, such as writing guest posts and creating resource lists. I’ve been getting a lot out of it myself ;)
