BABB-29: Make Friends With Bloggers In Your Niche
posted on March 29th, 2008
Today is Day 29 of the Be A Better Blogger series. We’re using the outline offered by Collis Ta’eed in an article titled 31 Days To Becoming A Better Blogger, and our topic for the day is:
Day 29. Start a dialogue with another blogger in your niche. Say hello, offer your help, comment on a post they’ve written — however you do it, send an email to another blogger in your niche and don’t ask anything of them. If you can strike up a conversation (or at least a connection) there may be future opportunities where you can do a favor for the other blogger and, later, have that favor returned…
There are several ways that you can contact another blogger, by sending an email or leaving a blog comment for example, but my advice is that you consider starting a Cross Blog Conversation instead.
Most bloggers are overloaded with email, and process comments by the hundreds each week, but they usually pay special attention to incoming links or blog posts that are specifically about them.
Look for some of the top bloggers in your niche, or even newer bloggers that show obvious potential, and read through some of their current posts. Find a topic you can run with and respond to it on your own blog, quoting them and adding your own thoughts on it. This is a great way to get the ball rolling!
You’ll accomplish your best networking when you arent expecting anything out of anyone, and are simply making connections.
Best,

I’m in contact with another blogger who is also in sales and we’re going to interview each other on a regular basis. We’re also floating the idea of beginning our own little “network” to allow businesses to promote themselves.
Of course, we know how important it is to create good, quality content.
That sounds great, Don - definitely check out the Cross Blog Conversations link, and that category here at ClickNewz. That may be a great way for you to both benefit from the continued interviews.
The information on cross blogging is something I haven’t heard before. Great tip! I am definitely going to try it.
You’ll love it, Donna
My question is, if I have a yahoo 360 blog, how do I get this to backlink to my web store page instead of just my blog page? I have a link from my blog to my web store, but is there a way for the two to be incorporated? -Donna
I’m not sure I understand what you mean, Donna. I dont have either, so it could just be my lack of experience talking…
Are you referring to how you link while doing Cross Blog Conversations?
