Back to School…

It’s Monday morning, and my kids started back to school today. My youngest started the 5th grade, and my oldest began high school – he’s a freshman now. So not only is it the beginning of a new week… it’s the beginning of a new phase: the ’school schedule’.

If you are a parent who stays home full time, or works from home, then you can relate to the mixed feelings about it all. On the one hand it is a relief to have a break at the end of a busy fun-filled summer. And on the other, there’s a certain sadness about sending them back off to school and the ’summer fun’ being over for another year.

This is always the time that I miss home-schooling the most. :P

On a positive note though, I can honestly say that I am looking forward to being back to work full time. I usually take quite a bit of time off in the summer months, so there always seems to be plenty to keep me busy while the kids are gone during the day. This year is no exception – I have plenty of catching up to do ;-) .

I did get an early start, which is nice. I suppose the summer felt somewhat long this year… exceptionally hot and dry, keeping us indoors much of the time towards the end. And while the weather is still hot and humid, the atmosphere and general mood take a shift with the change in schedule.

It’s a refreshing change – or at least to me it is. My son didnt seem thrilled about his first day at high school, but my daughter was quite excited about getting back into the swing of things. I’m anxious to hear how their day went when they get home… admittedly, I am missing them today.

For the last two weeks I’ve been busy updating old sites, putting up new ones, evaluating my projects and goals… and gearing up for the sales rush of the upcoming holiday season. Just little things here and there in between shopping for school supplies, registrations, orientations, picking out new shoes and such.

But now it’s all done and they’re both back in school, and I am feeling incredibly motivated :D . Refreshed, excited (particularly about some of my newer projects) and anticipating another great year!

Cheers!

Wow…and I thought my son’s start in high school on August 30 was early!!

Both of my boys are already getting the “back to school” grumblies.

Heck, the back-to-school ads began shortly after the summer started. It’s amazing they ever had any fun at all with such constant reminders!

Boy, I’m looking forward to their return to school. My year plan is itching to go full-time!!

  3. I’m not quite at that stage yet, 4 and 2 year olds but hey, it won’t be long :)

So far so good – the week is going well :D

I think the kids are happy with their classes and teachers, and we all seem to be getting back into the swing of it all without much of a problem!

    Hi Lynn,

You have an incredible blog. I’m working at improving mine so I can offer my visitor the best experience.

I want to put a couple of ebooks that I want to give away to my visitors when they visit my blog. And separate images such as the ebook covers I saved as well.
Are those things difficut to put onto a blog?

    I would appreciate any help

    Thanks

    Judith

    Hi Judith and thank you!

No, its not too difficult at all. You can get specific help and even code just by asking over at the SSWT Discussion Forum. It’s a very friendly and helpful group ;-)

  7. [...] I’m on an insane schedule, mind you, and I dont know how that happened. Probably a mix between school starting back and too much coffee. I’m up before daylight (sometimes as early as 4am), napping in the afternoon, and working late into the night. But it feels good, and I’m in some kind of super-productive zone, so I’m not complaining… [...]
