Very good information, and something Anita and I have been telling direct sales reps for years. We’ve always made a very big deal in our newsletter and stress that YES direct sales reps NEED their own online identity. Cookie cutter sites are NOT going to work, except in closing the sale.

I honestly think this is a big misconception with those wanting to work from home exclusively – “easy” and “already set up” does not translate to success. In fact, as mentioned in the article, it hinders more than helps. We’ve run into quite a few reps who are not allowed to do their own websites or blogs, which of course makes it that much harder to succeed.

This is a great tip, Linda. I always look at company replicated websites as being similar to an affiliate link. That link is not your primary website, but rather it is the link you ultimately want to send your visitors to.

You can do this a number of ways, as you pointed out: through a related blog, free report, content site, etc. But ultimately you want to have your own domain name, your own content, and to build your own active mailing list.
