I run an active Internet Marketing Discussion Forum at Self-Starters Weekly Tips that is just over 5 years old and has more than 10,000 members. This forum is an extention of my weekly newsletter, which I have been publishing for over 8 years.
The SSWT forum is heavily spidered and passes a lot of “link juice”, so it has to be moderated daily to prevent spam posts. Moderators also help the newer members with answers & resources. They get quite a bit of exposure at the forum, which leads to more inbound links and of course new targeted visitors. Those that offer services get a chance to work one-on-one with potential clients in their chosen category.
I need GOOD moderators in place that will take the time to post relevent info, news & resources in their category. Ideally they check in at least once a day, but it only takes 5 or 10 minutes to check for new posts or add something useful.
Since there are a lot of benefits to moderating, I prefer to choose new Mods from the pool of active members as a means of giving back to the community. That said, I give more weight to the interest and expertise when choosing a Moderator than anything. The primary goal being to put someone in place that will take an interest in the topic of their category, and in the members discussions there.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, in exchange for the links and exposure, please get in touch with me. I am accepting new Moderators this week, and would love to add some enthusiastic people to the team. See:

If you are not yet a member of the SSWT Discussion Forum, consider joining us. Its a great community and the members there are incredibly resourceful - and of course a fun & friendly group
Best,

I have enjoyed being a moderator of your forum Lynn. You could add me in the (blogs, bloggers & blogging) section. This is my favorite section of the forum
