  1. What a great resource Lynn. Many thanks.

I'm getting out of town for the weekend, with no internet access, but If you don't mind I would love to review each of these links in depth and make a post on theathomecouple.com.

You know I'm big on content, and I know you are as well. It's important to provide people with quality resources and hopefully we can improve the overall "quality" of marketing online through great content marketing.

    Have a great weekend.

Lynn, as usual, you overdeliver and show me it's easy to do so! This post will keep me printing out articles, reading and writing throughout August. (even when offline and on vacation!) Thanks for the great tips.

    Best for now,
    Mary

  3. You're welcome, Mary - and thank you. Enjoy your vacation!

Elijah - I dont mind at all. Be sure to link back or trackback so we can check it out once you publish it 🙂

  4. Lynn,

I recently wrote a book review for my blog so I immediately read the section in your post about How To Write a Book Review.

In it, the suggestion is made to send your review to the author or publisher, so I immediately sent an email to the book author's site with a link to my post. (Why didn' I think of doing that myself ??-- DUH)

In three hours I had a reply from the author which I am quoting here:

"Hi Linda, thanks for sharing this with me and for doing the work you are doing. I am cheering you on from afar! Jill"

The internet sure is an incredible thing!

btw, you can read my review of "My Stroke of Insight" by Dr. Jill Bolte-Taylor here if you're at all interested and/or have time:

Thanks again for all you do, Lynn!

  5. Great review, Linda! The only thing I would add is a cover graphic for the book. You can get that from Amazon of course. Nice work 😉

  6. Lynn you gave me some of the best advice I've received regarding online writing and promoting my writing on the web. As usual you pull together timely information just when I need it.

About a month ago author Andrew Blechman contacted me to find out if I'd like to review his book. He saw my site and thought it would be good fit. I was thrilled as the book, Leisureville, had been reviewed in the New York Times, among other places. This would be my first book review!

Here's the link to the review if you're interested

The author enjoyed the review and then took me up on my offer to do a podcast which I just posted today.

I'll be saving this ClickNewz post to enhance/improve future book reviews that I do. I really enjoy this new aspect of my work and now think I want to make this a regular feature of my blog. I see it as really valuable, quality content for my readers.

Thanks again for providing one of the most relevant and timely newsletters around Lynn!

  7. Hi Lynn,

Grabbing and inserting a cover graphic is on my list of things to learn how to do. (Hopefully before the next book review I do for my blog.)

I've seen how to insert an image -- but how do you get a graphic from Amazon? Is there a tool or program you recommend?

I'm on the hunt to learn what I need to make my blog look the way I want it to look. 🙂

  8. Hi Linda,

First, I assume you have an Amazon Associates account, and that your link to the book on Amazon is your affiliate link?

Log in to your Amazon Associates account and go to build links/widgets. Choose Product Links. Put your book title in the search box, then click the Image Only button. Right-click on the image and choose Properties. This is the URL you'll find there for your book cover:

  9. Thats great news, Sharon - congratulations! Proof of how valuable it can be to collaborate with other authors and publishers in your niche, instead of viewing them as "competitors".

Content is what makes the web go round 😉

  10. Thank you, Lynn!! I am an Amazon Associate and I did figure out how to put my affiliate link in my post. I didn't know how to do the graphics part up to now, and you make it sound so easy. This will be a perfect example to practice on my blog with. Thanks so much.!!!

It amazes me how you spare the time to answer little itt-bitty questions like this for me. Hope I can return the favor in some way, some day!

I'd love to know what you're thinking about #30DC now. I thought it was an incredible process, and that was before Market Samurai was introduced into the world!!! WOW doesn't even begin to cover the power MS offers -- especially for more experienced IMers like you!

  11. Hi Linda,

You're most welcome, of course! I am not familiar with Market Samurai - feel free to share a link. I'm a bit behind on my 30DC review as I've had electrical problems to deal with this weekend. The power has been on and off for the past few days, so I've been offline (*shock* lol)...

  12. Melissa Ingold says

    Thanks for these Lynn 🙂

  13. Lynn,

Followed your instructions and was able to put the book cover image in my book review -- woo hoo! I decided to go with a larger image than in your example (older eyes LOL), but I definitely get the how-to part! Just to be safe though, I printed the instructions out for future reference. Thanks so much!

Re #30DC, you have to get your own link to Market Samurai (MS for short) through your login at the Challenge. It will ROCK your world. See Days 2 & 3 ASAP and Ed's hinting at even bigger things to come. Yikes!!!!!

  14. Excellent - will do - thanks!

I am finally back online and power & A/C are stable... so here's to catching up 😉

  15. Thank a lot Lynn. This is a good resource. Content writing is very important. Content must be search engine friendly and user friendly. I really love this: http://www.clicknewz.com/608/writing-content/

  16. Thanks Lynn ...
I loved the articles you have mentioned. This post really helped me know what i was doing wrong with my blog. I appreciate your efforts for sharing the knowledge with us.... thanks a lot
