Money for Content, and Your Clicks for Free
Two months ago I made a brief mention of a book that I ordered on Amazon.com by J.D. Frazer about turning content into cash. I actually bought this book because it was recommended during the checkout process, and because it brought my total up so that my order qualified for free shipping…
While I was at it, I also ordered Money For Content and Your Clicks For Free : Turning Web Sites, Blogs, and Podcasts Into Cash. It looked like it might be a good addition to my summer reading… and adding it to my cart qualified my order for free shipping

Ironically, it turned out to be one of the best books I’ve ordered so far this year. The author (J.D. Frazer) is also the author of www.UserFriendly.org, where he showcases his talent as a writer and cartoonist. This snippet about Frazer from the sales page on Amazon sums him up quite nicely:
About the Author
JD Frazer (BC, Canada) is a cartoonist and writer who enjoys a readership in excess of 1.5 million fans internationally. His site, Userfriendly.org, is the first stop on the Web in the morning for a vast number of Information Technology professionals. He has spoken at more than 50 events as both keynote speaker and panelist, on topics related to the business of online content, intellectual property, and online communities. He has consulted for companies on online consumer trends, online community development, and content development. His popular books with O’Reilly and Associates have sold more than 100,000 copies.
I wasnt familiar with the author, or with the book, when I ordered it… so I didnt read it right away when it arrived. In fact, I opened it for the first time this weekend, almost two months later. I pretty much expected it would be yet another dry marketing book with the same old recycled tips.
I was wrong…
J.D. offers an engaging writing style with a fresh perspective, discussing what it takes to step into the ‘creative class’ and monetize your talent (ie your content) on the web. It isnt your typical manual or guide, and certainly isnt “the latest get-rich-with-Adsense book”.
Dont get me wrong - I love my Adsense, and love those tips that increase my Adsense revenue, but it’s nice to read about something new for a change
Money for Content discusses working with various ad networks, conducting surveys, putting together a Media Kit… and much more. It also goes into detail about building communities, considering membership (the good and the bad), branding and even merchandising. It is chock full of good information and ideas to consider.
This is definitely one of those books that belongs on every Internet Marketer’s bookshelf!
