Atlanta Meetup

The Atlanta meet-up over the weekend turned out to be tons of fun. It was a casual get-together, with about 20 people in and out, and a lot of really cool connections & conversations.

I started my day by having lunch with Paul Evans (@nicheology) and Mark Thompson (@purposeddriven) to discuss the re-launch of Nicheology, creative uses of PLR content, and to basically catch up with them and with the direction they are taking this year. It was a fabulous lunch, and an all-around great time!

The meet-up started shortly after, which was hosted in the lobby of the Renaissance Waverly. The BigSeminar was actually going on just upstairs, so several people joined us from the event during the session break.

We wrapped up the get-together by giving away a copy of Twitter Revolution, a new book coming out October 15th by Warren Whitlock & Coach Deb. Willie Crawford was kind enough to draw the name out of the hat, and Paul Colligan caught the drawing on video for us:

Congratulations, Kirk! πŸ˜€

I'll be back in Atlanta on business at least two more times in the coming year, so I definitely plan to do this again. It was a great time with some very cool people, and a terrific way to seal deals and make new connections!

p.s. Here is a super quick 30-second "around the table" view of the conversations going on during the meet-up:

That was totally fun. I haven't gotten around to watching the video, yet. I'm still getting the membership site set up. By the way, this is the correct spelling of my name: DeAnna. I use all lowercase in usernames because it makes life easier. Thanks for the shout out. Now I know where all of those new followers must be coming from. πŸ™‚

  2. Tracey Tarrant, Virtual Assistant says

I look like a goober! It was so great to meet all of you!

  3. I thought you looked great, Tracey! I'm hoping next time we get more opportunity to talk one-on-one. I'm glad I at least got Twitter IDs & business cards so I could follow up with everyone. I had a time just keeping up with names! haha

Speaking of which, Thank you DeAnna - I fixed that in the original post. Pleasure to meet you!

  4. Lisa Marie Mary says

Looks like a great time! Hopefully I can make the next one! πŸ™‚

  5. Paul Colligan says

Was a blast meeting everyone. Glad the video worked out well. Nothing like being able to go "live" at a moment's notice.

    Paul

  6. True that, Paul and thank you again - awesome camera work! I look forward to following up on our conversation πŸ˜‰

Lisa - I do hope so. Would love to meet you!

  7. Ramkarthik says

Looks like a great meetup. Never knew meetups could be fun.

I guess I'll be there in the Atlanta meetup 4 years from now (if it will still be there). I'll be coming to USA to do my MS course and I'll jump into one of these meetups.

  8. DeAnna Troupe says

Now Ramkarthik why would Atlanta be gone in 4 years? We might have more people transplanted here by then, but I doubt Atlanta will have gone anywhere anytime soon. People need somewhere to run to when there is a hurricane. LOL

    DeAnna Toupe

Lol, I'm misunderstood. I actually meant "if there would be Atlanta meetup". Surely Atlanta will be there.

It is to be appreciated if events are organized by people for long time.

  10. Melissa Ingold says

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Looks like you had an amazing time. Also sounds like you got a lot from the conference.

  11. Ricardo Bueno says

Looks like you all drew a pretty good crowd! It's always exciting and constructive when you get a good crowd out...

  12. Warren Whitlock says

What a great tweetup. We got to meet some tweeps from the BIG seminar that we hadn't meet upstairs, plus many more local tweeps that came just to see you.

If I'm anywhere near your future Tweetups, I'll be sure to attend

  13. Oh I SO hate that I had to miss this! When are y'all going to do it again?

Well at least I can follow everyone on twitter. πŸ™‚

  14. Dennis Edell says

Aww ya gotta love the Willie man!

  15. We missed you being there Carrie. I'll be back in Atlanta on business soon so we will definitely have to get together. We may not be so lucky to get Willie & Donna & the others who just happened to be there for the BigSeminar - but we'll have a great time nonetheless!

We should make it sooner rather than later - I'm craving that awesome spinach salad already! πŸ˜‰

  16. Note to self: Take gum out before shooting video.

  17. DeAnna Troupe says

Carrie, I'm not sure when I'm going to plan another meetup. I will let you know when I do. I'm always trying to come up with reasons to get together with my online buddies.
