I recently did an interview for Joan Stewart of PublicityHound. The topic was the success I’ve had in Internet Marketing after reading a report by Lynn Terry over a year ago. After the interview Lynn and I were talking, and she invited me to come over and share my success with you (I still read her blog too).
Since Lynn is actually a huge part of my success I instantly said yes…
In December of 2006 I was tired and stressed out from my day job (I managed drugstores for a large drugstore chain). After a number of broken promises and a bout of morality with the some things the company was doing, on top of me just being physically/mentally worn out I decided I needed to find a way to leave. I started reading about how to do online marketing and in fact, I started in Lynn’s discussion forum.
Though time was limited I found time to read and learn daily even when I was tired, but I made the time to do it. You can literally go back and find old posts of mine where I couldn’t even build a website in the beginning – I was a raw newbie, the same place many who are reading this might be sitting now.
I really liked the idea of Affiliate Marketing after reading about how it worked. So, I started work on my first site in January of 2007 and it was horrible LOL. It really was, but I made my first step forward – I took action.
I learned some of the things I was doing wrong and I went at it again and this time I made a better site. It produced some pretty good income early on, then I added an email list and made even more money with it.
Within a few months I was earning about $1500 with the site. In the meantime I started soaking up all the knowledge I could and creating more sites. Not all of the sites would make $1500 a month, some would make more some less.
It wouldn’t be long that I put my knowledge into guides. At first they were mainly for myself since I could easily go back and look at my exact steps. Then I ended up talking with Lynn and she had seen that I had already started to have some success with a previous book and on my sites so she asked me to review her report.
The Fast Cash Strategy was great and actually opened up my eyes for some ways to get other people to promote my products when they were completed. I believe it was page 13 that really sparked my mind.
It wasn’t long before I had over 22 products (video courses, e-books, reports, guides, membership sites) designed to help newbies get started, you can find quite a few of them at www.theprofithq.com
Most my early work was done part time while working another full-time job. But it took only a total of about 12 months to quit my job and work from home full-time. Trust me, I never looked back. I never wake up wishing I was doing that again.
Don’t get me wrong it was 12 months of working a day job then coming home and working at night to learn more. I have fun learning new things and this was a fun frustration because there was so much information to learn from.
The reason I am writing this isn’t to brag or have you believe that I am someone special. The truth is anyone can do this and here are the keys….
- Take Action & Set Goals.
- Never Give Up – First time fails, try again.
- Get stuck? Ask for help.
Most of all listen to the people like Lynn who have already found success.
Don’t be afraid to spend $50 to learn something you want to know either.
I still buy guides when I want to learn something new and it helps me save time because the e-book or course usually has exactly what I want to accomplish my goals. The truth is even experienced marketers will never know it all and the Internet changes so fast that everyone needs to learn and adapt. So, don’t be afraid to spend a few bucks here and there.
In closing this post out I want to say one last thing I touched on earlier. TAKE ACTION, without action you can’t achieve success. Lastly, follow your plan. One of the biggest reasons for the high fail rate in the market is people jumping from one idea to the next, looking for the quick score. Become extremely good at one thing before moving on.
So, pick a path and stick with it and achieve success. If a year goes by and you still have had no success, ask for help or look at the things you may be doing wrong. Anyone can be successful in online marketing if you just put your mind to it.
I want to thank Lynn for letting me share this with you today. I also hopes this helps motivate anyone who has been on the edge wondering if it’s really possible to make money online or become successful from nothing.

Focus and dedicating your time can be tough – sometimes it means blocking the world out while you focus even experienced people like Lynn battle that, we all do. There are so many distractions that at times it means turning everything off but your brain and your computer

That’s awesome! Just stick to it and believe in it… trust me you’ll make it. Ya know even on my busiest days now I never look back and dream of having a 9-5 again lol.

I am an advocate for success and I believe anybody can be successful if they apply success principles within their lives. Learning successful principles will build you a good foundation for you to become a success in life.
Your three points were very important:
- Set Goals and Take Action
- If you fail.. keep trying.. (be determined)
- If you get stuck or lose your way.. ask for help!
