There were some good points made in both reports, and if you take the time to read them objectively you can glean your own gems from them. My review of the 2nd report can be found here, by the way - if you want the quick version: http://www.clicknewz.com/193/life-after-adsense-review/

There is plenty of money to be made in plenty of ways - and for those of you that read my blog daily, you've heard me say that over and over again. The key is to test various strategies and programs on your own sites to the point that you know what works best in YOUR niche and on YOUR site.

That said, it always pays to test alternatives. I've done very well with PayPerLead programs over the years myself, so it's definitely something to consider.

And as for the author giving his affiliate link or building a list - or for goodness sake! - making any money... he addresses all of those flames in the 2nd report quite nicely.

Sure GOOGLE makes out nicely with the Adsense program. That is covered in the report as well. What Scott does is give some ideas to make people *think*, he gives them for free, and he even gives one idea and method in detail for people to test.

There's nothing 'evil' or 'silly' about Scott Boulch or his two reports. The titles may be - but that was all part of the marketing (to create controversy).

Best,
Lynn Terry

This is so silly. "The Death of Adsense". Someone posted about it on my forum, over at WickedFire.com, and we just ripped him a new asshole. These things are pure crap. Why do I get so worked up over this filth? Because it's 100% a way to make the author richer by spewing information he knows nothing about. Google makes BILLIONS of dollars from adsense.

In fact, most sites that are MFA are better quality than those that aren't made for specific niches. They tend to have a ton of good and original content!

Great post Ellen Braun, lots of well awesome points in your post. Pop on by WickedFire more often, sometimes we need a voice of reason amongst all of the banter.

[...] SEORefugee points out just how easy it would be to get someone else’s AdSense account banned, leaving them with forfeited income and no appeal method, thanks to Google’s set up. And if that’s not enough to scare you, Lynn Terry reports on the new report suggesting AdSense died August 1 of this year. It’s a free report, with a second free section to be available September 21, and it doesn’t appear to be selling anything so far. It’s a little preachy and redundant to me (my opinion of every marketing ebook I’ve ever read), but it makes some good points.
Disclaimer: I make a decent six figure sum from Adsense every year, year after year, through Smartpricing, Adwords changes, algo changes, Katrina, and the six months I took off from work for personal reasons.

Lynn, I'm surprised you recommend him. I must agree with Ellen (who will remember me from a site of mine she liked: a parody of long sales letters ;) - but, I digress). The man struts his massive ignorance of the Adwords/Adsense model and when it works efficiently he blames it for his big drop in income! It's hilarious. Use a throwaway email address to sign up for his junk and you'll get 18 pages of pre-sales prep. And... that's it. You've got to wait for part II to see what he's selling.

Hope he get's s'omeone to remove hi's mi'splaced appos'trophe's in the real s'ales letter to come.

What's VERY interesting to me about this report is not the content but the marketing strategy used to promote the report. I agree with Lynn's assessment of the brilliant marketing strategy.

I'm kind of surprised to see that many gurus are promoting this but after thinking about it I think I know why it's being promoted heavily. In fact, I mentioned it to my subscribers by telling them what I thought about the report just as Lynn has done here. Because of the sensitive topic for this report, it's getting lots of publicity (both bad and good).

He's only paying .50 per lead. If the optin rate converts at 50% (which is high) then the per visitor value is only .25

I wouldn't think money is the driving motivation for these gurus to promote the report because of the low visitor value. So it must be because of the controversial topic.

Anyway, this promotion has left me with a lot of insights into how I'm going to launch my next product. Should be worth a test...

By the way...

Adsense is dead for people who jumped on the mass generated site craze. There's nothing new there. For everyone else who provides good quality content to their visitors, Adsense is more alive than ever.

Thank you for your comments!

One correction though: he isnt paying $5, he is paying 50 cents per lead for those that promote his report.

Carry on!

Yes. The author has made a nice living by using other people for his testing purposes.

His current report is only getting around, because he pays $5 per name to whoever promotes it.

I had joined one of his previous programs where we split profits from the websites built using his system. He rarely responded to repeated support questions and has never even announced this "report" to his private forum.

Adsense is NOT dead. Bad business practices using the Adsense model to make money is dead. In fact Adsense was responsible for a HUGE portion of Google's income. Look up their financial statements online...

And to watch people like Joel C. sell Adsense Templates a few weeks ago and turn around and promote this report (so he can collect his MANY $5 commissions) is the REAL story here.

To see if Adsense is making money for people, just visit Google's help pages and look up success stories of real people making real income with real websites.

Very intriguing report. One take on it is that this spells the end of huge automatically generated "Adsense" sites. Various people have said that they have not noticed any reduction in adsense earnings from quality "hand crafted" sites.

He has surely got us hanging on eagerly for part 2...

I did not appreciate the report.

In my humble opinion, the report is just the foreplay for another report promoting pay-per-lead affiliate programs, such as cj.com and azoogleads.com- he showed screenshots of his income from those 2 programs at the end of the report. So, now he's gonna give us his affiliate link to Comission Junction (do they have a referral program??) and Azoogle (that's my referral link- wink!) and tell us that THAT'S where big money is these days.

Well, guess what?

Money is too be made wherever you have quality traffic. You can choose to structure your site's business model in the Adsense manner, the cj way, go the azoogle direction, or sell your own products. It's your choice. Any and all of those methods will generate revenue for you; obviously some more than others, depending on the type of site and traffic you are getting. But the point is- all of those business models will work- with quality traffic.

Google's TOS specifically forbid building MFA sites. (made-for-adsense sites)

What do all the gurus sell and recommend anyway? High-paying keyword lists and MFA templates.

One thing that was left out of the "Death of Adsense" report was "Smart Pricing".

Google, unlike the government, is not in the business of going aimlessly in circles around its own agenda.

Google is a multi-billion dollar, profitable company that is run by and employs some of the best Internet minds in the world.

Google's Smart-Pricing is not a formula which the public can access, but- put simply- it works like this: If people clicking on your Adsense ads are converting for the Adwords advertiser paying for that ad, your site will be given more higher-paying ads. And, by contrast, if the clicks on your site's Adsense ads are not converting into sales/leads for the Adwords advertisers- your site will show low-paying ads.

So, it figures, that if you build an MFA site around a high-paying keyword like "mortgage rates" and you have a only header and images and Adsense above the fold- you will get lots of clicks, but not quality clicks- those clicks will convert very poorly for the advertisers, and obviously the smart Google guys will give your site the lowest-paying ads to display.

The bottom line is quality. Is your site adding value to the web, or simply funnelling money into your pocket without providing useful content for your visitors?

I have a site that generates a nice 4 figures a month in Adsense, and it has a very low click-through-rate. It does have high traffic, due to the value it provides, and decent conversion for the advertisers- I only know because I get emails from visitors that they bought products from an Adsense ad!

So, choose Adsense. Choose cj or Azoogle, or all 3 of 'em, and more- that's not where the magic is. The magic is in providing value to the web- then the money will follow!

Best,

Ellen

I have a site that generates a nice 4 figures a month in Adsense, and it has a very low click-through-rate. It does have high traffic, due to the value it provides, and decent conversion for the advertisers- I only know because I get emails from visitors that they bought products from an Adsense ad!

So, choose Adsense. Choose cj or Azoogle, or all 3 of ‘em, and more- that’s not where the magic is. The magic is in providing value to the web- then the money will follow!

Best,

It's not just you - there's quite a stir over it in most of the major forums. There's nothing new about the model or process for getting information out, building anticipation, launching a product or gaining exposure... but there seems to be a rise in negativity over it all (as if readers dont have a choice in what they read?).

It's interesting to me, and has sparked an upcoming topic I'll discuss titled "Internet Marketing is a Dirty Word?". Watch for that one ;)

At any rate, I'm watching this one with great interest. I enjoy a good marketing campaign, a hot topic and any new idea (or new presentation of an old idea) that hits the ground running.

Controversy is great you know - it gets people talking :D

Keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the ground at the very least. It will be an opportunity to learn something even if it's just from his marketing strategy when the dust settles.

As for me, the initial report that I linked to in the post above has already (indirectly) sparked some great ideas in my mind - which is usually the case with any material related to IM (good or bad). So from that perspective I am glad I took the time to read the short report (and jotting down notes with a grin!). And I admit I am very much looking forward to his follow-up...

This report is really getting about! Maybe we are just a little cynical here in England but a UK marketer wrote his ezine letting us know that he refused to promote it as a free report because it was just a lot of hype getting people ready for his product that will need to be paid for. But I guess that's the "game" of marketing, hand out a plate and get everyone excited about receiving the food!
The curiosity is killing me though so I am just going to have to give in :0)
