What do you use to create a website?
I’m curious what you use to create a website.
I would really love to hear from people of ALL skill levels.
Do you use web design software, did you learn HTML, buy a “create a website” program, use the web page editor your host provides? Share specifics with us in the comment section below.

Depends on what type of site, a blog is quick to setup. I hate using templates, but that works for some people. More of the brute force programmer, starting everything from scratch and build from there, hehe, that takes a long time though.
I use Photoshop to design the site, then I slice/code it it into parts that are all calibrated to work with all browsers, resolutions and relative operating systems (I use notepad++ as my html editor, I never do it visually).
I learned about half of the languages on w3schools.com (still learning
, W3C is a great place for people of any coding skill level to start learning/learn more coding languages.

I first learnt the computer in ’85 from my 13 year old son on a commodore 64 computer and became interested in the Infocom text adventure games. For the past then years I have self taught myself HTML using Notepad and even though I have looked at Dreamweaver etc. I still prefer to work on my website for greeting cards with what I feel works for me.
PS: I also use Paint Shop 5 and Easy Thumbnails for my various index pages. I recently was forced to switch to a paid host as I discovering Geocities was going to close down their free space services that I had been using for the past ten years. I also use my own templates for the top and bottom of all of my designs.
This is a suggestion for very new people to internet business who would like to start a small business from their home.
I learned HTML and PHP and use Komodo or Eclupse. However, I changed the approach while working on my last web site. I use a system called Site Sell. It not only gives you step by step guide on how to build an internet business – rather than just a web site – it gives you all the tools to do it. It might look like a step backward for those who know HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL… I don’t know how about you, but I want to build an online business, not just a web site.
I’ve used dreamweaver, joomla, wordpress, frontpage… a lot of different programs. Now, I stick mostly to wordpress. For niche sites and very simple sites I use… dare I say it… blogger. I just slap on a simple blogger blog and get going. Always better than not putting up anything at all.

I mainly use HTML code and CSS on sites such as Dreamweaver. But with WordPress themes this somewhat negates the need to learn it in such depth and comprehension, although it is still good to.
