Clicknewz 2.0 BETA – Refresh Your Browsers
Update: Noon Wednesday March 18 – New theme is stable for the most part. No server errors for a couple hours and all pages I’ve checked seem to be working fine. Still a million little tweaks to do and a handful of cool features to get up and running, but overall things are going great!
———————-
Hi folks, it’s Paul again. We just brought the new Clicknewz 2.0 theme online and there are some minor issues right now, but I’m picking away at the code on the back end to get things straightened out.
Over the next 24-48 hours I’ll be tweaking the template code to get any issues fixed and everything streamlined.
If you see anything out of place, please report in the comments below and include your Operating system, what browser you’re using and what screen resolution your monitor is set to. These reports would help us out tremendously.
Thanks folks, see you in the comments below!

So far so good, liking it. Keep it up Lynn. I’m a big fan.
Great new theme, Lynn! Looking good.
Wowsa!
My first question (to everyone viewing) is how it looks on your screen. Does it fit without scrolling right?
I really love all of the social additions – nice work Paul!
I do think any links in the Twitter box in the header could open in a new window (if that’s possible?).
What about you – Anything stand out to you that you would add or remove? Do you like the overall look & feel? Your opinion counts!

Hey Lynn,
I’m using firefox and have to scroll a little bit to the right. Exactly 2 centimeters. I have to admit that I do prefer the bright green and blue coloring of the last theme but this wide theme has a great business feel to it.
If the links were green like before it would be perrrrrfect ;-D
Blessings,
Eren

Hi Lynn:
Looks great, fits well, and very clean and professional but, not to worry because it still looks and feels clicknews/LynnTerryish, !
Just wanted to let you know that it’s not scrolling 2 centimeters to the right anymore. It’s fitting just perfectly now

Very nice theme! I love the updated look. It makes me want to energetically smile. I can’t wait to see the new content to go with the new look.
Yes, it fits my Firefox window nicely, loads quick and scrolls smoothly.
Blessings,
Wendy
Wow, thanks Wendy!

Nice, clean, fresh, very friendly and inviting.
Concern about width/spread of page compared to previous – right side of page in my IE is sliced off, unless I spread to absolute max. Concern that vital things may not be seen like the Connect with Lynn panel.
So, yes Lynn, I had to scroll right, and even widen to absolute screen width. I’m sure that’s easy to fix by Paul.
Otherwise, I really like it.
Cheers
Kathy

Hi Kathy, yes, this theme is a lot wider than the other. It’s optimized for 1024px and above monitors. The wrapper div for the site is set at 960px wide so that on a 1024 screen there’s a bit of a margin on each side.
Thanks a ton for your feedback. There’s still a lot of tweaking to do and we’re waiting for more comments before any major changes.

Keep up your great work Paul – really great stuff!

I am using IE and can see the whole page without scrolling. The design is nice. I love that picture of Lynn and told her so once before, but I’ll repeat it. It feels as though she is looking right at you with a big smile and welcoming you to her little corner of the world.
I also like the color choices because they are not distracting. I HATE going to websites or blogs that use such intense colors that you can’t focus on the message
) Nice job.
I’m curious, what “software” do you have to install aside from WordPress and the plugins??
Hi Rasby, thanks for the compliments. The color choices up top are Lynn’s and the person who designed the header and logo. Great taste and an unusual color that you don’t see on a lot of sites. But then, Lynn is a pretty unique person and not afraid to step outside the norm
Below the header and down the page, I tried to keep things subtle yet bright so that the content is front and center and not overshadowed by features and stuff.

The new style is a great improvement over the old look.

Wow… wondered what happened!! Thought I was on the wrong blog for a minute there
My thoughts…
I like it Lynn, very clean and well spaced out.
The blog colour at the top matches your clothes in your picture well, was that intentional? Knowing you ladies gave the eye for that
I think on the whole it’s a great improvement, not that the old theme was bad but it’s easier on the eye, you know what MY eyes are like )
Good job and nice choice.
Take care,
Rob

The color scheme was chosen to match the blue of my opt-in box and “RSS orange” – and the photo of me was chosen last, as a good color match with that theme
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
It looks great, as well as the photo.

Hi, Lynn, that matching photo was what I picked out as a nice touch too. Like the new theme a lot. Easy navigation, like the social buttons. Especially like the threaded comments, conversational based on topic you want to comment about. Very cool. The font of the thread comments is a little small for my eyesight, (giving away a weakness based on age, lol) but that’s what the browser zoom is for! Great stuff here, Paul, nice work.
Best for now, Mary

I like it. The new theme has a more businesslike feel, while the old one seemed more personal– though Lynn’s shining face up there personalizes it pretty well. There are virtues of both styles. I really like the way comments look on the new one. I haven’t seen much use of WordPress’ new tiered comment feature yet. I’m sure it will be put to good use here.

I do like the threaded comments, and the fact that my comments – as the author – stand out with a background color. It gives ClickNewz more of a community feel, which is what it has evolved into on its own over time anyway. The new format for comments just lends to more organized discussion, which I really like!

I’m using Google Chrome and everything looks fine on my end. No scrolling, nothing is cut off or out of place. Good job Paul!
Looks good in ie7 at 1024×768, no scroll bar. I like the “connect with Lynn” links. Great new picture as well.
Lots of energy on this site, very inviting, great job Paul.
I did have a problem trying to post.
I like the new look. Very fresh and bright.
No need to scroll the screen to see it all, and I have a 14″ flat panel monitor.
I like the idea we can reply to particular comments, too. Very cool.
I had no gripes with the old theme, but it’s amazing how a fresh look can shake things up. Nice job, Paul!

Lynn and Paul:
Most excellent job – and pretty seamless transition from the old site too. I’m impressed! Looks good on my little monitor (17″) in Firefox, IE7, and Chrome. The latest tweet graphic is nice – lots better than the one I’m using for my blog. And the “share the post” looks like it will be quite effective. So, now you gonna get that affiliate program set up for Elite members?
Keep up the good work – you are helping folks more than you may imagine.
And thanks for all you do!
Russell
Thank you Russell – the affiliate program is being handled by someone else. Hope to get that up and running SOON

FABULOUS! Who is Paul and how do we get him to work for us, too?
Follow me @anniebinns on Twitter.
Okay, Paul – stupidly minor tweak under Categories. “Web Content Development” is showing in right column as two lines due to character length. This causes the left column to have an errant carriage return under SEO & SEM. Coincidentally, same visual blip is prevented nicely with the “C” topics above since both are double lines in the same row. Anyway, SOOO minor.

I knew that from the start
Paul has actually done work here at ClickNewz before, behind the scenes – upgrading, installing and generally helping me keep the code clean and the engines running smooth. He’s definitely my go-to guy for anything blogs!

Hi Lynn: Like the new Blog look. I like the colors and that your dress matches the brown in the top portion of the page. It is very professional. Are you planning on adding a Video to the Blog. That would really let you “reach out” to your readers. You have a lovely southing and trusting voice and the interaction seeing as well as hearing you on video would be great. I also like all the links that you can get to, ie, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I was trying to figure out who Paul was that helped put this together, but cannot seem to find any contact info for him. I might be ableo to recommend him in the future if I have any clients that have an interest.
Hi Beverly,
& thank you for your feedback!
It’s Paul Short: http://twitter.com/paulshort/statuses/1347479764 You can reach him there on Twitter. A video is a good idea, and one that I have in the works already. There are lots of little tweaks still in progress, so stay tuned

Wow, wow, wow. No problems from what I see. I love it! Great job Paul
Hi everyone. Just wanna say thanks for all the great feedback and that the compliments are hugely appreciated
Still a few issues to be resolved right now but they’re all minor. We’re also bringing a cool new feature online in a couple days that’ll help a lot of people connect with Lynn in real life and
stalk herkeep track of what she’s up toFun stuff!

Great use of colors Lynn!
Paul: Have 21 inch monitor using 1280 by 1024 pix. Well balanced on screen with friendly margins. Firefox for browser; sometimes IE.
Looks very clean. Easy to sort out the pieces. Inviting to click on the various buttons for connecting, sharing. Enough of the same Lynn to keep continuity. Great high energy picture at top right. It was a bit of a shock at first, but I like it. Looking forward to getting into the new features.
Lynn: Really looking forward to your feedback from your trip to Australia and your meeting with Rob Anderson.

Cool new look Lynn! Very clean. I like the colors and the picture of you. I am viewing in Flock and all looks good to me. Outside of a few gremlins in the text (“stompingâ€) on the other pages, it’s an awesome way to really pop out there!
Paul-Super work!
I just have to say that the new design is wonderful. It is clean, bright, and happy! Good job Paul and Lynn.

The new site layout is really awesome. I was just wondering if the Connect with Lynn links is a plugin or something homemade. Its really nice. Also the “twitter, digg, stumbleupon, etc” links at the end of each post…are they from a plugin? Thanks.

I completely and totally love it!! It’s really just awesome – fresh and crisp and new! Great job, Paul and Lynn! I love your social buttons – groovy!
My only one tiny little hang-up, which is probably “so 2004″ of me – I’d love it if the header linked to ‘Home’. I totally see the Home button up there, just a quirk, I guess…
Looks awesome – makes me excited to get to see some of the changes you’ve been talking about! Kinda makes ‘em more real! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Hi Lynn and Paul
I too love the new look – so fresh, clean, large title lettering and bright (without being gawdy) colours. Like your matching and friendly picture. Plus your latest tweet, the social networking buttons including ‘SSWT’ … And the threaded comments (which wouldn’t have known the name of until now – lol). It looks really goooood!
Only this morning was at an offline breakfast networking event (talking to an IM) and I’m sorry to say your name was bandied around
(all in the name of spreading the online marketing with integrity message)!

Ahh no wonder my ears were burning!

Hi Paul and Lynn
This look great very professional and really clean and easy to read. Paul come and do mine for me!!
Best Wishes
Denise
Lynn and Paul, You’ve done an incredible job! I’ve been looking at blog templates and individual blogs very closely, and now I’ve finally seen what I like BEST of all! You’ve really done it! The “ClickNewz Wet 2.0 Template” is as close to “perfect” as they come… for your purposes and mine… especially when you add video. You present so well in video, Lynn, as the no-nonsense pro but warm, trustworthy, straight-shooter you are! … Yes, makes me want to keep coming back, and to do business with someone I know, like, and trust!
The threaded comments do add a good “community feel,” and having Lynn’s in blue enhances that. The social buttons and opt-in form design are clean and “social,” very inviting. And the organization of components in the sidebar makes finding things a cinch. Very visitor-friendly. But are you planning to add MyBlogLog, too? Or most recent visitors? That adds more “community,” too, I think. In any event, I will love coming back here. You’re terrific!
Best wishes,
Margaret
Thank you Marg! I havent made plans to add MyBlogLog or “recent visitors” but may in the future. I like to keep my sidebar as clean as possible – avoid it being too cluttered and distracting.
