I’ve created a new category here at ClickNewz titled Online Reviews. And then… I did one (a review). I also moved several older posts - and some of the more recent ones, as well - to this new category.

As your blog grows, adding new categories is a very good idea. After awhile, you will have likely expanded on the topics that you cover and found yourself fitting ’square posts’ into ’round categories’. But it will help your readers tremendously if you keep your content organized in very topic-specific categories.

The tidy internal linking structure is also beneficial to you in regards to SEO (optimizing your site/blog for the major search engines). You will want to use a keyword-rich title for each category, and also include a category description with each one. You can also use HTML in these category descriptions, by the way.

Once you have created a new category, move relevant posts from your archives into the new category. This is a great way to bring some of your better posts back in front of your visitors, as they will probably be interested in checking out your new category.

Keep in mind, too, that each WordPress category becomes a Technorati Tag automatically. This could be very helpful to you in regards to traffic, so choose your category names wisely!
