Candid Video Interview: Pursuit of Success

I was making my social media rounds today and happened upon this YouTube video by Mary Wilhite. The video was recorded on the Monday morning following the Niche Affiliate Marketing workshop in Atlanta a couple of months ago (August '09).

The next NAMS workshop will be in January, and it's almost sold out already - there are less than 20 seats left. If you're interested in attending (and hanging out with us! πŸ˜‰ ) see: Niche Affiliate Workshop in January for the speaker line-up and a coupon code to save $100 on your ticket.

There was a comment left at YouTube by Kathleen Gage that I wanted to share with you as well:

Lynn Terry is the real deal. Thanks for an excellent interview. As you show by the questions you ask Mary is Lynn knows her stuff.

Imagine if you get this much from a 7 minute video what you could learn by joining Lynn's marketing forum and membership site.

Rock on Lynn andο»Ώ Mary.

Kathleen - thank you! A high compliment coming from you... πŸ˜€

I hope you enjoyed the video, and I hope you'll consider joining us at the NAMS workshop in January!

  1. This is an outstanding video! Your advice is always rock solid. Thank you for sharing it, Lynn. I agree with Kathleen Gage, Lynn, you are definitely the real deal wish I could be there at NAMS with you and Lynn's Elite! πŸ™‚

  2. Thank you for making this video available. If an "uplifting breath of fresh air" comes in video form, this is it.

  3. Lynn, as always you are an inspiration. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Now I've got to get back to work!

  4. That Guy John says

Good video to inspire beginners and those that may be stuck in a rut.

  5. Lynn, you`re a real treasure. But you really need to do some work on your on camera presentation. You got to control those facial expressions. I went to acting school so I do have an opionion. Don`t play up to extrovert `drama queens`,...your credibility will suffer. When you are not speaking sit still with a dead-pan smile, gurning will get you nowhere. You could have a great film career ahead yet. My advice, work indoors, the light/weather far better [more controlled], look at the camera, choose who you work with. This online thing is not a free-for-all you got to come back next week!!

    Stay cool,....oh, and

    Best,

    Eltel.

    • Why thank you Eltel - much appreciated πŸ™‚

As you can tell, I did not go to acting school. And I have had no video training, formal or otherwise. I'm constantly being critiqued for what I wear, my backdrop, my intros and such... but I don't really mind. I don't do the videos for credibility or fame, or even money. I do them when I have something useful to share.

If you pay attention to the content in my videos, you'll find it's solid. Everything else is just... the real me. πŸ˜€

      • Mary Wilhite says

        Lynn,

Your comments are excellent. As you know we were just trying to help women who maybe need extra encouragement while working towards their online success.

I thank you for all that you do. You are the Best!

        Mary Wilhite

        P.S. Happy Thanksgivings!

    • I think Lynn's videos are fab! I like the "no props and prep, just me being me and sharing with you". I didn't realize her marketing journey was her way of working toward an acting career (Lynn you sneaky woman, you had me fooled! All this time I thought you were on a marketing journey and all the while, you were prepping for "Days of Our Lives"!?).

IF that's the case, then you really do need to work on your camera presentation lady. The casting directors won't like that lighting, that gurning, uncontrolled outdoor work, looking away from the camera and non-choosiness about who you work with! You're sure to only get a temporary part of being that drugged lady in the park scene if you don't shape up lady!

Buuuut if you want to stick with marketing, I think you're rocking out! Credibility comes from being real, not acting, and you have your "A game" on there!

  6. Bill Lassiter says

    Lynn,

Although this message spoke about women specifically, the message was an is universal. I'm a real estate investor and new to the internet marketing business but the recipe is the same; find your passion, take action, service to others.
Love your down to earth style and presence and look forward to learning how you can help me grow my business so I can help others!

    Regards,
    Bill "Dolla Bill" Lassiter

    • Thank you Bill, and I appreciate you seeing through the "for women, by women" target. That is Mary's market for the video, but I really felt like the message was good for everyone.

I don't often do gender-specific topics, though I get asked a lot. But when I do, I invite everyone πŸ˜‰ I think Kelly McCausey had a record male turn-out for her "work at home mom" webinar with me last summer, LOL.

  7. Inspiring video! Helps to "hang in there" and continue taking action even though results are not up to par yet. You add great value to our life Lynn and thanks for sharing this video. A booster... πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Janice πŸ˜€ And yeah, it took me years and A LOT of hard work (and uncertainty even). I was glad to have the opportunity to share that message, and hope it helps everyone see that they CAN do this.

  8. Bonnie Christian says

Thank you Lynn for sharing this video. You are such an inspiration! Your genuineness certainly comes through. I am going to 'file' this away under MOTIVATIONAL videos.

  9. Christian Russell says

Totally dig finding a girl that just tells it like it is. Hard work is the threshold that so many just aren't willing to go through. Do you have value to offer others? Yes! But you still have to do the work to get that value into their hands. I like the fact that you don't gloss over the hours and the struggle that's necessary on occasion...but also that you knowledge that it's worth it in the end. Great message πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Christian. Definitely worth it - I simply can't express just how grateful I am towards myself for sticking it out! Making money online is simple, but maybe not easy. We're all human - bad days, doubts, trial & error, etc - it takes a lot to stay disciplined and focused. But yeah - so, so worth it πŸ˜‰

  10. So glad I came across this video. Find your passion. Do the work. Offer value to others. Stick with it. This is what it's all about. I'm writing down these reminders for myself right now. Thank you so much Lynn.

  11. Okay, you got me to watch a video, and it was a good one, even with all those ladies in the background laughing like that. I've been on a quest to figure out what my passion is these days also; I'm all over the place. Glad to have watched this.

    • LOL - yeah, we were actually sitting out on the patio goofing off and having a great time that morning. It was a pretty busy spot. NAMS is one of the most laid back and social, yet super-productive, events I've ever attended. This video was taken on Monday morning, after the event had officially ended. A group of us stayed after just to hang out that day...

  12. Good video and advice. Keep up the good work Lynn. Those 'knockout roses' in the background are so beautiful.I wish mine could be as beautiful. Thanks again for your kind words. Mary is so full of energy!

  13. Great video! Lots of really good advice ladies.

So excited to attend NAMS in Jan.

  14. Great video Lynn and alot of advice for newbies. I had the same video under The True Story of Lynn Terry http://www.jamessamy.com/the-true-story-of-lynn-terry/ on 17th Nov 2007. How good people think alike.

    Thank you Lynn

  15. Anita DeFrank says

    Real Deal = Lynn Terry
That statement couldn't possibly any further from the truth! Awesome video - Awesome advice! Thanks so much for sharing!

  16. Thanks for this video.....this applies to men as well......we are no different to women who haven't found their passion, and if we have, some us find it challenging to put it into profitable practice....this video has inspired me!

    • I agree Brian - and I'm glad you viewed it in that light. Mary targets a female market so she framed the video in that light, but my answers were meant to be universal in nature. πŸ™‚
