What Matters Now
On this New Years Day I sat down to read the new anthology put out for free by Seth Godin just a few weeks ago. It’s a collective work, with a goal of getting it in the hands of 5 million people.
The free download is an 82-page PDF, titled What Matters Now, full of “things to think about (and do) this year”. Each page features a contribution from one author, some in text and others in drawings or images.
It is short, fun and completely engaging!
It is laid out in a way that is fun to flip through, and easy to print things that really stand out to you to keep for inspiration. There are tips for speaking, tips for being inspired and motivated, tips for setting and achieving your goals… it’s an incredible collection of work.
Here are more than seventy big thinkers, each sharing an idea for you to think about as we head into the new year. From bestselling author Elizabeth Gilbert to brilliant tech thinker Kevin Kelly, from publisher Tim O’Reilly to radio host Dave Ramsey, there are some important people riffing about important ideas here. The ebook includes Tom Peters, Fred Wilson, Jackie Huba and Jason Fried, along with Gina Trapani, Bill Taylor and Alan Webber.

Wow, great resource Lynn, thanks for posting this! Would be interesting to hear what key behavior changes this triggers in each of us who reads it. Will it motivate and inspire you to make a profound change, or take an amazing action in your life/business now and if so, what will that be? I’ll throw my hat over the fence and promise to post at least one idea or insight it might trigger for me. Any other takers?
Great way to start off the new year—thanks again!

Thank you Tyy! I said that as well, when I first got the link. Now I wish I had read it sooner – lol. It’s a lot shorter and more fun than I would have guessed. I think I’ll have to get the print version for my coffee table!

Thanks Lynn. Perfect timing for a read on 1-1-10. Had just watched a Seth Godin Video with thoughts about why the purple cow is better than a good cow.
Shared your post with the folks on LinkedIn TopLinked Entrepreneurs Group as well. Outstanding!

Thanks for sharing this with us. I found quite a few pieces that spoke to me.
Page 68: “Getting things done is not the same as making things happen.”
And I really like this one.
Page 72: Enough…. “If you’re checking for new email every five minutes, that’s 24,000 times a year.”
Thanks again,
Mona
That last one is a great point LOL.

Thanks for sharing this Lynn – I noted a few pages that stood out for me but I think this one is my favourite:
What’s working well right now and how can I do more of it?
I’ll take this one with me in 2010 and aim to act on it.

AWESOME New Year’s Gift Lynn! Thank you for sharing this. Seth Godin is one of my all time favs. I was hooked immediately from page 4:
“Art can’t happen without someone who seeks
to make a difference. is is your art, it’s what
you do. You touch people or projects and
change them for the better.
is year, you’ll certainly find that the more
you give the more you get.”
I’m going to share this with the World!
Hugs and Happy New Year,

Thanks for the heads up Lynn! I’m going to shoot overthere and download it today. I love anything that Seth writes. His book Permission Marketing, Tribes, and The Dip helped me to understand the changes in business world that I “knew” intuitively but couldn’t articulated. He’s an inspiring leader.
