I really don’t know how you waited, I bought a macbook around the same time as you, I couldn’t even wait for it to be delivered, straight down the apple store for me.

    • Lynn Terry says:

I wasn’t in a big hurry for it ;) Except to get the purchase in before the end of the last quarter for tax reasons -lol. I have a specific use for the Macbook so when I get ready to do that, I’ll be all about digging in!

      Johnny,
Coming from decades of PC into a new MAC it was worth every penny. I got laptop, Snow Leopard and love it. I did purchase the $99 one to one in store support and worth every cent for the year. Probably will add another year when I can. Just one tip is worth the investment. Maybe some thing pricey in beginning, but the value is absolutely unbeatable besides their FABulous support in store or on phone. I’m hooked even though learning curve. I’ve only had few months, so learning curve, but worth it. Now have to use it and make $ to. I do commercial for them as the older generation need this and I can talk to them from age and experience….

Just posted at your FB page and now I see comments area here. I love MAC. Now if I can figure out how to get on the Tues. webinar and speak it would be great. Maybe you can help here or other MAC lovers. Using MacBook pro. Get their $99 one to one? You won’t be sorry, but is in store and worth every penny and dollars too….Also got 3 yr. warranty. It’s all worth it to me as when help is needed I have only self to ask–now I have them. I got Snow Leopard–not sure what Pro 10 relates to unless same thing.

Oh, didn’t know what I was missing till I got one. Heard for years it was hard to learn coming from PC, but wrong with their great support–easy!

    • Lynn Terry says:

Glad to hear it, Carol! I am not actually “switching over”. I’ll still be using my PC’s for everything I use them for now – they have been great for 13+ years now! I got the Macbook Pro for mobile video editing specifically. Look forward to digging in and learning the video editing software!

  13. Hi Lynn,

Good job! You will truly enjoy it. I suggest when you get itching for some Windows apps, just throw a copy of VMWare Fusion on it and away you go… Nothing better than running a stable Windows inside OSX.

Quick question – why not go for the 15″ or 17″?

I find the 13″ is much too small for my needs – but am interested in throwing down for a 3G iPad when they roll off the assembly lines. :)

    Follow me on Twitter.

    • Lynn Terry says:

I bought the 13″ because I purchased it specifically for mobile video editing – so small and convenient was the goal. I won’t be loading any Windows programs on this system. I want to keep it clean for space & memory and use it for video editing only.

  14. carol giambri says:

Was considering 15″ but opted for travel go with 13″ instead.
    Happy with choice.

  15. I switched to Mac last summer, after getting tired of dealing not only with viruses, but virus protection, which is just as bad and sometimes worse than the virus itself. I love, love, love my MacBookPro. Will never go back. I love my iPhone, too!

  16. carol giambri says:

Charlotte, I had same problems with virus stuff too and got super old. Only being the geekish here I had to get something that offered support and training. Apple did that and loving my MacBook Pro because of that. Are you able to get to talk to Lynn for webinars besides texting? If so, would love to talk about the steps as not figuring out the “how to do.” Thanks.

I’m on AT&T too so if phone easier surely.

  17. Kirk Miller says:

Hey guys, I just got a MacbookPro. Do you find that the caps key is LESS sensitive that the other keys. I find myself having to pay attention when I hit the caps key to make sure it worked. They told me that it
was designed this way. I’m not sure if I believe them. Otherwise I love it. Have any of you noticed this?

    Kirk

    • Jane says:

Hi Kirk – I haven’t noticed that with mine – I’m always hitting the caps key in error when I’ve missed the ‘a’ … Did you get that info over the phone or at the genius bar?

    Carol,
They do have great customer service and are very friendly. I feel good just going in there. I am new to

    visit daily for sure.

  22. carol giambri says:

    Kirt,
I am just in the baby stages here. I know there are tons of greats here and everyone is saying, and I believe them she is incredible. I know Lynn is always around, very sharing, direct, caring and haven’t found others who are constantly around the “kids” here as I call us all. She’s got a big heart and a caring spirit that shows up clearly in all she does for us here. She’s a giver to the max. Maybe I see her the same way as I see my love for Apple other than I can’t just hop over to her house like I can the store. Regardless, affiliates makes lots of sense and I just have to get engaged. It feels like a big mountain to climb even just starting. I know it’s up to me and there are great people I just need to ask for help here and read all the information Lynn and others have shared through Lynn’s tips, etc.

Welcome here. You will feel at home. Even being in others online, not affiliate, pricey programs I get to listen to a call and then the program host leaves forum opened to the attendees and hardly drops in. Lynn is different and appreciated by me tons even with my little interaction here. I can say she ROCKS!

While I’ve not used the Mac, I’m sure there a lots of “pro” however, I don’t get it when people says battle virus on a Win machine. Been using the mem hog Vista & have not have any trouble with virus.

Off course I don’t plug any USB drive from anywhere. That said, good for you Lynn on your new toy, oop tool

    • Lynn Terry says:

I don’t have any major trouble with viruses either, Sarah. And the few times I’ve had to deal with that in 13+ years, it was easily fixed. I am actually very happy with my PC’s and will continue to use them for what I use them for now – the Macbook Pro has it’s own purpose :)

  25. Nice to see that it was a MAC Book and not the iPad. The only gadget by apple that’s not impressive is the new iPad.

Going to buy myself a MacBook Pro soon and dump this VISTA Notebook.

  26. carol giambri says:

All you furture MacBook Pro users:
    You will LOVE it.

    I bought: 13″

-one to one package = $99 year –worth every penny…MUST buy…hr. private in store training.
-bought 3 years of service in case I need technical support–I believe it is 3 or whatever max being sold

–Oh, buy yourself at least a sleeve to carry into the store or around….can’t just carry it in regular case..there is something techie on why..and not a towel around the case I tried..they said no…

I came from PC, was clueless and with their training I am learning tons–it’s worth the change and change is good too….I was a DELL lover, then EX-lover, tried 2 HP and hated….but this one I’m hooked on.

Lynn, I don’t understand how you are using the Mac for video. Can you please explain the why/how steps. Thanks. I don’t know questions to ask here other than this because I don’t know it’s value. Yeah Lynn! Thanks.

Mac is awesome for graphics & video editing. I’ve never had a problem running Adobe Photoshop and editing video on my PC – UNTIL I switched to HD video. My PC balks at it, and so instead of trying to go through setting & software fixes, I decided to just buy the machine that’s designed for video: Mac.

Thanks Lynn for video talk. Another excuse to use my one to one training. Just keep finding reasons to return back to Apple store. They are local, but if long distance, then still worth the drive to a certain extent. Regardless even if people use their training 1 time x 12 mos. =12 times = $99 wow what a deal for personal trainer….cheaper than my personal trainer at gym.

My wife keeps trying to convince me that she ‘needs’ a MacBook Pro. But I can’t seem to justify spending that much money.

    • Lynn Terry says:

I’d say it depends on what she needs it for specifically. I’m one to only buy what I need – for what I need it for. My purchase was for a specific purpose (mobile video editing).

    Tom,
Your wife is right. MacBook Pro and their service is an unbelievable experience. Yes, lots of money, but value surpasses the initial cost. I am living proof!!! I get value, value, value from my MacBook and also their services I paid extra for. I’m in love with APPLE and a forever customer. I’m hooked. I love how they pamper their customers–I’m not alone!

  33. Chris Marper from YourNetBiz says:

I love the stir that an Apple product creates. I know the PC brigade love to shout about how we are paying through the nose for fancy packaging and a name, but when a company put so much thought into how your product is presented, you can be fairly sure they’ve spent a heck of a lot of time on what goes inside the packaging.

I have a 24″ iMac which I couldn’t live without. Screens allows me to have multiple desktops on the go, which allows me to have things like Firefox, Safari and Chrome running all at once, and just jump between screens and browsers for different projects. As for the creativity side – wow. Make some movies in keynote!! and my next goal is doing green screen in iMovie. Try Screenflow, that rocks. After watching Ed Dale demo it at the Manchester Coming Home Seminar, I had a little smug grin on my face as most of the attendees jaws dropped – but I’d already been using it for a few months (funnily enough, after Ed had mentioned it in somewhere previously!)

Right now we use Adobe Premiere. Enjoy your mac! ;)
