Sweet! Slickr Flickr WordPress Plugin

This week I’m sharing a brand new WordPress plug-in that create slide shows for your blog posts from the photos in your Flickr account. Here’s a quick example of the plugin in action, from my trip to the Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend:

Details: Slickr Flickr Plugin

Download plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/slickr-flickr/

Note: you’ll need to go to http://idgettr.com to get your Flickr ID to use in the settings of the plugin.

It’s very easy to install and use. I had the example above set up in less than 8 minutes on the first try.

This is a great way to repurpose your Flickr photos.

Up until now I have used Animoto to create YouTube videos out of still photos. Obviously Animoto is still the best option for repurposing your photos into a video marketing campaign, but this opens up a whole new set of options.

You can display photos of course, or you could get creative. Consider using product images, cover graphics, explanatory text images and screenshots in a slide show within your blog posts. Especially on product reviews or demos!

You can use the Slickr Flickr plugin within blog posts, or in a sidebar widget. There are several options, and it’s super easy to use.

Enjoy! ;)

p.s. That was my first Nascar experience, and it was awesome! :D

  7. Tom from Market Samurai Promo Code says:

I’m not that familiar with Flickr, so does it pull from an album? or does it display all your photos?

  8. Liz says:

Hi Tom – the plugin works by you putting a short code into your blog post. You just have to tag all the photos you want in the slideshow with the same tag, then specify that tag in the short code. You can have more than one slideshow on a page, including the sidebars. Just get back to us if you have any problems.

  9. It sounds and looks cool! Hopefully my non techy self can figure it out. I had the same question as Tom about using just one album or does it take all your pictures.

I have only NAMS photos in my account right now so that would be cool to do a slide show with those.

I can see this being really helpful on product reviews instead of having to scroll down the page through all those pictures… or on a cooking or craft blog to show a set of pictures going through the different steps of the process. I usually mash mine all together using movie maker and then upload to youtube as video, but this displays a lot nicer than the usual youtube box.

Lord knows i’m NO techy, so (god bless) Wordpress and Wordpress plugins. Yay!

This one I plan to use on the sidebar of a blog, showcasing cool photos. What would be EVEN COOLER though is if it had the option to LINK out to a page or post. But sweet still and i’m off to download it.

    Cheers!

    Hi Lynn,

Glad to see you sharing the love for this new plugin. It is fantastic, the best flickr plugin I know. We are using it on our amateur photography club website, http://torontoshootersclub.ca – for both inline slideshows in blog posts and sidebar widget galleries! And, it can do more than that – I highly recommend it.
