Sneak Peek at Lynn’s Desktop…
I got in late last night from the Underground Seminar event in DC – yes finally, after several flight delays and an unexpected overnight stay at the Hyatt! – so I’m just sitting down to my desk this morning for the first time in 6 days… What a mess!
While my desk space is actually clean, well – after I went through the stack of mail at least, I was a bit overwhelmed at the number of Firefox windows and tabs I left open. Everything from PDF files to blog posts to things I was in the middle of when I left last week. I must be truly ADD to have so many things going at once!
I thought it would be fun to give you a super-quick sneak peek at the content of all those tabs & windows… ![]()

I just opened this one this morning to print & review
And of course Facebook, Twitter and the Comments tab in the backend of ClickNewz. So there you have it – all the stuff that is currently spread across my desktop. My mission today is to read it, print it, review it, delegate it, or whatever it takes to get back to some sort of manageable workspace!
Best,

p.s. It’s really great to be back in my office. I can’t wait to dig in, catch up on the discussions at my forum, and start implementing all the cool action points I picked up at Underground 6!

Sounds like you left in a reeeeal hurry!

That’s usually the case
I just have to get up, grab a suitcase and walk out – or I’d never make it out the door. LOL

I thought I was the only one who did that. I’ve been trying to keep fewer windows open so I could really focus on current tasks. I ended up splitting it into half on Firefox and half on Chrome so I only had about 7 tabs in front of me at a time.

I took the easy way out and put all of the links into a blog post, closed the tabs, and then opened the one blog post so I can work from that (lol)

I could only wish my workspace looked as “uncluttered” as in your pic above! LOL

Thank you, Rick! Great to be back
That image came from iStockPhoto. MY desk is MUCH cleaner. Mainly because I took everything off of it and set it somewhere else -ha!

Wow Lynn, I think you really should start getting an “organising & planning” assistant to help you organise & plan all those stuff you mentioned above, as in someone whom you can outsource such stuff to….can i apply since i’m the very first one to comment ?
Follow me @johnyeng on Twitter.
I appreciate the offer, but there’s not much to organize or plan. Just some things I’m reading and studying at the moment, or actively involved in.
I have a great team, and hand-picked a couple of new people to work with over the weekend while in DC to help me with 2010 objectives. Super excited about that!

This is so funny!!! Glad to know someone else does this besides me. Thanks for all the great links and info here… Looking forward to your insights from UG6, too! Welcome back’

Hey Sheri,
I posted an update here:
http://www.clicknewz.com/2284/underground-seminar-6/
I really got a lot out of the event – what a weekend! The biggest take-away for me was “get out of your own way” and to “fire yourself, and hire someone that can make things happen!”

I am looking forward to your Elance made easy post. Since my mac book is so stable I leave all sorts of things open all the time. Right now I have seventeen tabs in firefox and three pdf files open.
I just printed it off last night (Elance Made Easy) and cannot wait to dig in. I’ll get my review up ASAP because I think this is one we can ALL benefit from!
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
Not going to say a word! LOL
Mostly because mine is not much different ha ha BUT I love that you plugged it all in a blog post, genius.
I always have the Wordtracker tool open too. The side by side Skype interviews sound interesting and I’m looking forward to your review on How to launch an ebook.
Follow me @angienewton on Twitter.
I know, right, girl! Mine is the same way! I can always tell when I’ve gone WAY overboard – when I wind up with just way. too. many. tabs open! Some days just get crazy like that!
And completely agree that it was genius of Lynn to plop them all in a blog post! I love it! (Except that now I have all these tabs open of interesting things she pointed out! LOL!!)
Follow me @lisamariemary on Twitter.
LOL – Glad to hear I’m not alone!
I printed off the Launch guide last night as well – can’t wait to dig into that one. I am planning to review them both this week/weekend and get the reviews up by next week. Both great topics and great price points. Hoping they are everything I expect, and then some

Lynn,
I have been emailing you about my purchase of your 5000backlinks product without any response and now I’m worried!
I’ve sent a message from your contact form on this site and the gmail email given in the product itself with no response from you.
Hi Jim – there’s no reason to be worried. I was flying home yesterday, and just back in my office this morning. I’ll reply to one of the 3 emails before the end of the day
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
You received my reply I assume? I never heard back

Welcome to my world, Lynn! I don’t know what I’d do without Firefox’s ability to save my tabs upon restart. Seriously . . . I can’t go without having between 15 and 20 tabs open at any given time. There’s always to much to do and so little time — it is nice to have a reminder of what is left to accomplish from days gone by. I only with Safari had the same capability.
Follow me @jrdorkin on Twitter.
So Safari doesn’t save your sessions? I have Firefox on my new Macbook Pro but was about to switch over to Safari because I like some of its features… but no session saving, you say?
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
I am so glad I am not the only one with so many tabs open at once. This is something I fight with every day. I never open one tab in the morning. It is always stuff I left to look over later! A lot of time later never comes!
Follow me @foreverjohnson on Twitter.
Ahh “later never comes” – I know what you mean. So many great resources, so little time!
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
I am guilty also, I always leave tabs open for the next day or, whenever I get around to closing them. Works great until the electric goes off or Microsoft updates and restarts my computer. Have lost some pretty good stuff that way. Can be quite a shocking experiance. But, it has taught me the hard way to save everything before leaving the desk.
Follow me @ThomasNorthrop on Twitter.
Thomas – Firefox browser will save your tabs for you. I strongly advise using it for that purpose alone.
Follow me @jrdorkin on Twitter.
That’s the primary reason I switched over to Firefox. Very frustrating to lose everything you’re right in the middle of. Even with a restart or power outage, Firefox gives you the option to restore your last session. Love it!
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
I’m that bad some days too. I’ll have tabs open that I mean to get to that will site for days on end before I either make the time or admit it’s not going to happen and isn’t that important. I could spend all day reading, after all, but without action there’s no point.
Follow me @HomeWithTheKids on Twitter.
True!
Of course, I’m in the middle of taking action on all of the tabs I mentioned above. Definitely have to make good use of our time and stay on business-building tasks!
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
I’m not even done reading your post and I already have 7 of your windows open. What a productivity killer! LOL
Now how many of those pages (or mini-projects) do you end up following through on?
LOL Sorry about that
I got the two ebooks printed & in a binder (and closed those files). I signed up for the affiliate program, got the details sorted for the other affiliate program. Read & bookmarked or closed several of the posts I was reading… so far so good!
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
Nice to see you here again and keep cool…enjoy whatever you doing.
All be okay soon Lynn.

I’m have book marked this page so I can come back and checkout all the links during my scheduled time to do so.
I am sure it feels good to be back home and sleep in you own bed and have the comforts of home. For me going away for a trip is exciting but there is nothing like coming home.
So do you think you will get it all cleaned up by today?
Follow me @rick_byrd on Twitter.
I’m working on it
And yeah – it’s GREAT to be home! Nothing like being in my own space, and hanging out with my teens and my handsome fellow
I’m home for a while this time too which is nice. Travel will pick up again in May and June, then heavy again in the Fall. So really plan to enjoy my time at home!
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
“Reading and studying” tabs, huh?
Mine’s full of “Gee, that’s interesting. I’ll get back to it later” tabs.
I’m with Josh…looooove that restart restore function of Firefox!
I’m with Angie too. Those distractions you’ve given us means more stuff to save!!
Dan
Follow me @DanReinhold on Twitter.
I end up with a lot of that “get back to it” stuff too. I eventually have to give in and give up and close it all out… and only keep the stuff I KNOW I am going to take action on.

Lynn that picture does NOT look like a MacBookPro to me!
There’s no place like home.

You’re right – that’s an istockphoto
I do have quite a few PC’s running in the house still, including an HP laptop & netbook. But the Macbook Pro is definitely getting more use these days.
Follow me @lynnterry on Twitter.
I too have a load of Firefox tabs open. I even have a lot of webpages in each of those tabs :O I use the Session Manager plugin that ensures I get them all back if anything untoward happens.
Good to have you back Lynn
Follow me @ishabluebell on Twitter.
A.D.D., don’t even get me started. (oh wait, look at the kitty) I have so much going on at once, I normally (there is a trail of ants going across my driveway) have to stop every hour or so to see what I have going on and close out (it’s probibly because of the BBQ last night) programs and browser tabs I am finished with.
Follow me @iamthatguyjohn on Twitter.
At minimum, I have four or five tabs open all the time. I’ve found it much easier to use Chrome for my browser instead of Firefox. I’m not sure if it’s just my computer, but Firefox is really slow for me. It’s probably because I have a lot of tabs open. My computer desk itself is extremely cluttered and I need to work on it. Maybe tomorrow, lol.
Thanks a lot, Lynn. Now I have even MORE tabs open than I had before. Geez.
Follow me @marybabysteps on Twitter.
LOL Ok now I have a gazillion more tabs open…thanks Lynn!

Hey, great post Lynn. Some useful links. BTW, knoow you are a new Mac User so let me just tell you that both Keynote and Screenflow for slide presentation movies and screencasts are amazingly simple and produce a professional look. I also love the podcast!
I know you get paid every time you open your mouth but what about reply’s? =)

I have a love/hate thing going on with my tabs in Firefox. I love that I can now multitask search easier but in the same breath, my searching has gotten more out of control than before when you’d just pop up a new window here and there.
Follow me @vanetworking on Twitter.
Hey Lynn,
I checked the Skype one, found that vid and overall site to be awesome.
Thanks for the links.
Lynn, that isn’t bad at all! I won’t even tell you how many tabs I have open! haha! I actually use the Firefox plugin “Too Many Tabs” and I have dozens of lines filled with tabs! I think it’s the ADD in my case, too!
)
Of course, now I just opened half of the ones above! Thanks a bunch, Lynn! Haha!
