Product Launch Formula 3.0 Review – Part 1

Have you been watching the big Internet marketing “guru launches” lately?

Boom, boom, boom, one after another. Overwhelming, exciting, confusing, enticing!

The most noticeable coming from Andy Jenkins (Video Boss), Frank Kern (List Control), Jeff Johnson (Traffic Voodoo), Mike Koenigs (Main Street Marketing), John Reese (Outsource Force), Eben Pagan (Guru Blueprint) and now Product Launch Formula 3.0 from Jeff Walker which started pre-launch today...

The launches and the products they promote have many things in common. And that makes sense because the products are all about showing you how to make money with an online business. That much is clear!

Each one, as you can tell by the title has a central focus but all of them teach the bedrock of any online business on how to build a list, create the right kind of relationship with that list, how to produce quality content and products, as well as attracting affiliates and joint venture partners.

And that’s where it starts to get a bit muddy in terms of choosing which one of these to follow. Personally, I don’t think you can go too far wrong, especially if you are new to online business because all of these gurus are currently at the top of their game.

This week is the unveiling of Product Launch Formula 3.0, which is the upgrade from the last version at 2.3. “All new” is the catchword from Jeff and his people in Colorado.

And that’s a big deal and why I’m writing this review.

You see, the latest guru products are the children of Product Launch Formula, which was first released in 2005. You see it in the marketing – all of the gurus use Product Launch Formula to roll out their launch. So it seems to me, that if you want to be sure about getting your online marketing right, listen to Jeff.

The thing that was the biggest surprise for me was that PLF is not just about running launches. Jeff shows you how to create products from the ground up – products for which there is a hungry market. He also goes deep into the how-to of joint venturing which is certainly the quickest way to build a profitable and sustainable passive income for the long-term.

It’s no surprise that PLF 3.0 is coming out at the end of all the big launches. Jeff is being awfully graceful about it – if he were first in line, there wouldn’t be much reason to consider anything that came after.

The best for last, as they say.

So if you’re looking for the definitive how to blueprint on how to sell massively online straight from the guru’s guru himself, then you’ll definitely want to take a look at the free content Jeff puts out for PLF 3.0 this week.

The evidence is clear: there is just one Internet marketing product that you’ll find in every guru’s toolbox: Product Launch Formula.

Very interesting thing you pointed out there, Lynn, that every other guru is using PLF.

I'm not sure I want to be guru-like. What can PLF offer to the un-gurus like me?

    • Alice Seba says

I agree with Casey (comment below). Even though I haven't seen this version, previously and I imagine still, Jeff has a lot of case studies in a variety of markets and areas. It is pretty powerful stuff.

HOWEVER, if this is the review that has you swaying (as you mentioned on Twitter), I command you to contact your sponsor now. LOL! 🙂

But seriously, Jeff's advice is solid and applicable across the board. Did you see that Jeff is even advising Paula Abdul on a product launch? It's on his blog at jeffwalker.com.

  2. Hey Lexi,

PLF offers the un-guru a lot. Most importantly an understanding and a step-by-step layout of the strategy of a product launch.

If one is at all interested in marketing, online or off, PLF lays out in clear and precise fashion how to launch a product/service/business.

Yeah we see all the IM guru's launching and think it's lame, same and boring but in every other market in the world Jeff's strategies work like nothing else.

I recently did a launch selling sports memorabilia. And it worked very well.

  3. You are right about Andy Jenkins. Though I don't buy his things, I always watch his launch videos. You can learn from the content he put out in the videos, from his overall sales process, etc...

  4. Hi Lynn,

I just wrote a post on product launches and watched Jeff's 1st video. It's full of great nuggets that you can implement right away. I can't wait to start using the launch concept and put it to action. And to comment on the 1st comment about what the launch could do for a non-guru- Jeff shares that in the video.

BTW: I LOVE your work, Lynn! 🙂

  5. I have to say that I own all versions of PLF and I've directly made money from this course. You just apply it and it works. The only problem I see with it is that there is SO much information that it gets overwhelming even for me who has been through the course numerous times.

  6. David Tomen says

Ditto for some of the comments above. I'm part of Mark Joyner's marketing dept. at Construct Zero for Simpleology. We follow the concepts taught in Product Launch Formula for every product launch. In fact, I have a copy of it sitting on my hard drive.

I know that if more small and local businesses used Product Launch Formula in their on and off-line businesses they couldn't help but to see a tremendous boost to their revenues. Followed religiously each business owner would make back the cost of the course the first time they tried it.

    Have a great weekend everybody!

I am so burned out on these big launches, I'm experiencing backlash! I received four separate emails from people urging me to check out Jeff's stuff. I just clicked "delete." I don't think most list owners have my best interests in mind -- I just think they must be getting a good affiliate commission. I'm so tired of the hype. So many "gurus" telling me this is the "only" guide I'll need (and then they send me another email the next week). I don't believe much of anything I read anymore. It's sad, but true.

Good thing I can come to Clicknewz. I trust you, Lynn! 🙂

    • I agree completely with Lain. Jeff's PLF has never resonated with me at all. Ever. Nice scenery and videography for these latest videos but the salesmanship is so obvious and heavy-handed. Every year my trusted mentors insist that PLF is the best thing since sliced bread. One year one of my most trusted mentors threatened to take me off his list if I didn't watch Jeff's "free" training. What a yawn!

    • I get that, and I know what you mean - but we have to keep in mind that this is ONLY in the IM space. Not the rest of the world, or any of the other profitable markets online.

We hear a lot about PLF, and see it used over and over in our space, because it works. Otherwise it would have fizzled out long ago. So for that reason alone it's worth keeping tabs on.

But its application outside of the IM space is where it can really get valuable. Where it's NOT overdone, and where you'll blow the pants off your competitors by implementing what he teaches. 😉

  8. Marya Miller says

I agree with Lain about being so burnt out from all these big launches. They may be the best thing since sliced bread but ya seen one, ya seen 'em all. My purchases this year are about 5% of last year, so far.

Of course that makes it all the more exciting when a new product actually stands out and delivers. I haven't tried PLF, but I'm reading this thread (and other reviews) with interest.

    • Most of you know me well enough to know I'm immune to "shiny object syndrome" and do not buy everything that passes my screen. I only buy what I need, when I need it, to accomplish what I'm working on right then. Period. That's a good position to hold... Jeff's course is for the people who want to get into high dollar product launches (even on lower ticket products).

But for everyone else, myself included, there is a lot to learn from all the free content Jeff puts out during his pre-launch phase of PLF. The guy is brilliant. And I am paying even closer attention after meeting him in person and sitting down to dinner with him and his brother John. Genuine - that's a word I don't use too frequently, but it describes them perfectly...

  9. Not completely PLF related, but sort of. What's with these new style squeeze pages that are just a video and an opt in box and nothing else on the page???

They are increasingly popular and I'm guessing that's because they work, but they annoy the heck out of me. I want to read what your page is about and I don't always want to opt in before I opt in... it kind of makes me dizzy.

When I get to a page like this with just a video and an opt in box, I close it without doing anything.

    • Me too, Retta! I can read in a fraction of the time it takes to watch the video and half the time you have no idea how long it is. That drives me nuts.

    • Schelli Whitehouse says

Ditto me on that Loretta and Gina,

Most of them are the sales page (written!) in video form except that you can't skip to what you are interested in and have to listen to someone (Jeff Walker for one) tell you how the long 'sales' letter is dead. What? Then why is the video so durn long?

The PLF stuff is great but those videos gotta' go!

    • You know me - I'm not a video gal. I prefer to read. That said, I am paying close attention to this because these guys have tested this relentlessly... and they know what works. Not what they prefer, but what *works*. So yeah, I'm making notes. 😉

  10. Gary Anderson II says

Thanks for the heads-up Lynn. You write so well. It's no secret that one of my bestest, mostest favoritest places to learn IM however is right here on ClickMews 🙂

    Gary.

  11. From where I sit, all that Guru talk is just noise and distractions. It may fit in your business at some point, just don't let "the shiny objects" distract you until it does.

  12. Matthew Zinda says

    Yes, very interesting!

I never realized how the rest of these "super duper gurus" were implementing what they learned from Product Launch Formula!

That peaked my interest in it!

    Thank you!

    Matthew Zinda

  13. Gary Anderson II says

Concerning these seemingly impossible "Frustrating Video Squeeze Pages"...

They Work! Simple as that. Do I get frustrated? Yes. But as a Student of internet marketing it is my intention to learn what works and what doesn't work. I may or may not like it. It is my choice to do what "I" like, or what "Works", or something in between.

As for me? I prefer to watch, listen, think and learn. Just my 2 cents 😉

    Stay Boosted!

    Gary Anderson II

  14. Peter Carr says

    Hi Lynn,
Good post. I have a e-mail that i use just for the big "guru's". I find watching them and they way they market very interesting and educational, i study them. The video squeeze pages are popular because anybody can do them, but extremely annoying, never the option to fast forward.Darn

    Pete

    • Ditto - I filter them all into a directory in my Inbox and study them carefully. I don't let them distract me as they come in, but rather filter them so that I can better manage my work time vs my learning time...

  15. From what I can tell and from friends who have used PLF - it's pretty darn effective and they are all big Walker fans. Personally, I am doing fine without it - right now. However, if I were to launch a product - I would have no issues with investing and then make certain to implement. The bottom line is do you really need it and if so - are you going to use it. One can really do and only use so many things - effectively.
