AdBrite is an Ad Marketplace where you can sell advertising on your website, or purchase advertising on other websites. I was checking that out today, and setting up an account to see what the process is like. I have been considering selling Text Links on some of my websites, and am looking into the various options.
Once I went through several screens setting up a website for advertisers to consider, I came to the pricing page. This is where you can set your own ad rates, or let AdBrite automatically optimize your pricing. What a great option! Here’s how that works:
Let AdBrite optimize your pricing
Recommended - AdBrite will automatically adjust your prices up and down, on a daily basis, based on advertiser demand for your website.example: When your ad zone is constantly selling out, we will continually raise your price for you incrementally until it maxes out at the highest price possible.
Conversely, if sales on an ad zone are slow, we can gently lower the price until the sales pick up again.
It seems that it takes a little time to update your preferences for displaying ads on your site. When I initially set it up, I left “display network ads” and also didnt edit the number of ads shown. Once I saw how that looked (eek!), I went back to edit my preferences to only display ads that I approved, and only two at a time…
We’ll see how long it takes to update that, and then once it does I can move the ads to better placement.
I’d love to hear from some of you who have used AdBrite, Text Link Ads, or some of the other advertising networks. Were you able to find good advertisers for your website, and get a decent rate for the ads/links that were placed?
Also -> Does any know for sure if you can run AdBrite and Google Adsense on the same pages?
Questions & ideas welcomed!

Lynn,
I’ve been using AdBrite for about a year on several blogs. I’ve always been very pleased with the amount it brings in, for the amount of traffic I have (still rather low, I’m afraid). Currently, all of BlueMushrooms’ ad slots are sold to “recurring” customers, and the amount I get slowly creeps up every month (I allow AdBrite to set my prices).
They’re by far my favorite ad network. Even a small blog can get a check every month, and even with my mediocre traffic, I earn enough to pay my online expenditures every month - which is great for someone just getting her online business started.

Thank you, Sapphire - I appreciate your feedback! I am still curious if you can run them on the same page with Adsense… I’m assuming you can run sponsored ads but perhaps not ‘network ads’ - I’m not sure.
I wonder that it might be more profitable to sell Text Links or ad spots outright… except that I would prefer not to manage it myself (outside of manually approving/denying ads & advertisers).

Oh, sorry! I meant to answer that as well.
I contacted Google about a year ago and got an actual email from them saying it’s okay because AdSense’s network ads are not context-sensitive: they are category based. Anything category based is okay, according to the email I received.
I was using it side by side with AdSense when I actually got my first AdSense check (I believe they examine your sites for compliance before issuing checks).

Lynn, I’ve had Text Link ads on 2 of my sites for a couple of months, and it was very easy for me to get them up. I approve the ads myself, to make sure I don’t get something I don’t like.
You can see an example here: http://www.babys-first-year.com/all-about-babies/ (it’s at the bottom of my navigation).

Nice - they fit in very well with your site. I have an account with TLA, so I will have to look into the differences between them and AdBrite.
Selling Text Links - The ClickNewz! Internet Marketing Blog // Oct 6, 2006 at 10:46 am
[...] It’s been one week today that I signed up with Adbrite and blogged about their service. Adbrite is an advertising network that brokers the sale of text links and online advertising, similar to Text Link Ads. After reading their free guide on buying text links, I am considering testing the brokering services from various networks. [...]

[...] Over the past month I have tested both Adbrite and Text Link Ads. Both of these companies are Advertising Brokers, selling text links or ad spots on your websites on your behalf, and sharing the revenue with you (the site owner). I left the code for these services on my sites for at least 10 days each - Adbrite first, and then TLA. [...]
