I ran across a simple blog. It’s hosted on Blogger.com (free blog host). There are no keywords in the title bar. There is no fancy tagline in the header. It is laid out on a black background, with various colors of text. There are few words, and no major copywriting went into them. It doesnt target a specific market or niche.
Yet I read this blog from beginning to end.
You can see it here: http://postsecret.blogspot.com/
Beautiful, isnt it?
It’s simple. Genius, really. It is an incredibly creative idea, and one that obviously has the potential to become insanely viral. There is no doubt about the profit potential.
But to top that… it has a purpose, and it offers something truly unique to a large and diverse group. This little blog is a great addition to the web, in my opinion.

Aloha Lynn,
I saw the book at B&N a week ago and it is awesome.
I am amazed at how much pain there is this world — and how many lonely people there are.
Aloha,
Jason

I felt the same way when I read through those cards. But it also seemed like a powerful release. What better way to rid yourself of a negative vibe than to attach it to a postcard and mail it away…

I agree Lynn. I’ve been reading this for a while. I know this sounds twisted, but it helps remind me that things aren’t so bad for me just because the coffee shop ran out of my favourite syrup (or some other triviality).
It also restored by faith in the human spirit.
Regards,
Andy

I saw that site a while back and it definitely has tremendous impact.
It feels like both a shame and a blessing at the same time.
It’s certainly more evidence of the need for sharing more smiles and caring more for other people.

I’m also one of the folks who saw this site a while back and it definitely touched my heart.
Reading one of the secrets literally made me pause and wonder if I had sent it in myself and forgotten about it (I hadn’t).
It was surreal and comforting to know that someone out there shared the same secret I did…I was no longer alone.
And that, right there, was the key. Knowing we’re not alone can help heal so many wounds.
Thanks for this reminder Lynn.

Thanks for sharing that site, Lynn. There are some pretty powerful cards on there. For some reason, I think these two are pretty cool…

Wow, what an awesome site concept.

Isn’t there a music video with this same concept? I’ve only seen it once on VH1 (while channel surfing) — it was very powerful; made me stop and watch. I don’t recall the title of the song (I believe it had the word “secrets” in it) or the group, but it shows all kinds of people holding up little signs with secrets on them… just like those on this site. I wonder which came first.
Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Found it that video I saw. It’s called “Dirty Little Secrets” by the All-American Rejects. You can watch it at this link:

Actually, that’s kind of small (at least on my computer at work!). A better link is: http://www.allamericanrejects.com/media_videos.asp and then just pick “Dirty Little Secret”

Thank you so much for posting the link, Bonnie!
I actually LOVE that song, but had never seen the video. It had about the same affect as the website (postsecrets.com) - left me speechless.
Oh - and you can make the Yahoo! Videos full screen but clicking the button on the bottom right corner, just FYI. I check out videos there pretty often.
Thanks again!!
Lynn
