Raising a Teenager

This is a little off topic, but hey – it’s my BLOG so I thought I’d post it for those that might get a kick out of it . It’s a short little video clip taken at the local body piercing shop.

I’m of the notion that you really should ‘choose your battles’ when raising a teenager. Say no to the serious things, but give them a little room to be an individual…

Now before anyone goes posting any hooplah about letting a teenager get a piercing, let me state my case: after two months of being up in the air on the idea, I finally let Zack get this done on his birthday. He turned 15, is a great kid… and rarely ever asks for anything. So I thought “why not!” It’s not a permanent tattoo or anything ultra-weird… just a small fashion statement, I guess.

I think the funniest thing about that video is the background conversation about “corn fritters” . Here’s a shot of Zack after the deed, with his eyebrow pierced:
