Netflix Delivery

 

I signed up for Netflix a little over two months ago (see my original post) and have been incredibly happy with them from day one. The features I enjoy most being fast shipping and email notification.

I get a little note in my Inbox when they have received a movie that I returned, and another note in my Inbox that lets me know which movie is coming next and on what day. They are so conveniently titled that I dont even have to open the emails! For example, a subject line reads like this: For Wed: The Others.

My two most recent movies were The Lakehouse with Sandra Bullock and Flight Plan with Jodie Foster (both excellent movies, by the way!). I was particularly impressed with how quickly I received a New Release… I expected that would take a while (waiting list and all) – but I actually got The Lakehouse within a week of it being released on DVD.

Of course, Netflix is nothing new and we all know its the greatest thing going when it comes to movie rentals (especially if you read all of the affiliate reviews *wink*). What I wanted to comment on though is that their delivery time has improved dramatically in the last couple of weeks.

To be honest, I had no complaints about it before… I was getting at least 2 movies a week, which was well worth the 9.99/month for their service. But a few weeks ago I noticed that they were sending out surveys (to me, and I assume to other paying members) asking what day we returned our last movie.

And then all of a sudden they seem to have gone into super-shipping mode! I put Flight Plan in my mailbox on Monday, which was picked up at 11:30am my time. On Tuesday morning at 8am I received an email notification that they had received the movie. On Tuesday evening I got a notification that I would receive my next movie on Wednesday.

That kind of turnaround time is phenomenal! It used to be that I would put a DVD in the mail to them on Monday, get notification of receipt by 8am Wednesday morning and get my next movie by Friday at the latest.

I dont know what they’ve done to accomplish this… but I’m a very happy Netflix customer at the moment ;-)

    Hi Lynn,

    I absolutely LOVE Netflix! The more work I have to do, the more of a homebody I become, so having entertainment delivered to my door has been so great for me!

    Besides the fast shipping, I love the variety of DVD’s you can order…exercise videos, tv series, documentaries…I like experimenting with some of their genres to see what they have to offer and I’ve always been so happy with the selection!

    With high speed internet, cable tv, Domino’s pizza, and Netflix you almost never need to leave the house anymore! :)

    And if you think that’s great… I found a website the other day where I could put in the model number of my kitchen appliances, diagnose the problem – and order parts online! Now I dont even have to go to town for a new element in the oven :D

    When I first started with Netflix (a good 4-5 years ago), it took them forever to ship out new releases. You could be waiting 3 months to see a new movie. It got so ridiculous, that I even cancelled my account out of frustration!

    A year later, I read that they had improved their delivery times, so I joined again. The difference was amazing. I’ve never had a long wait for any movie since then.
