Enter to Win a Fellowes Shredder! #FellowesInc

This post brought to you by Fellowes. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was excited to receive the Fellowes 79Ci paper shredder to review, as I've never owned a shredder before. Getting rid of important documents without worrying they'll be stolen has always been an issue - so I'm thrilled to finally have one in the office.

It's a sweet stand-alone machine on wheels, so no desk space is necessary. I parked mine just beside my desk, and it's the perfect height to shred documents while sitting in my office chair.

As you saw in the video above, you have a chance to win one of these for your home office too!

Interesting to note, Fellowes designed the very first personal shredder back in 1990, and they are still the leader in shredding innovation and technology to this day.

Since this is my first shredder, I don't have any comparisons to make, but I really loved the fact that it destroys documents into almost 400 pieces - making it nearly impossible to piece back together. AND the fact that it runs so quietly!

Fellowes POWERSHRED 79ci Features

Jam Proof: Fellowes is the only brand on the market that offers 100% JamProof Technology. It has multiple levels of advanced jam prevention, not just standard anti-jam features like other brands.

Cross-Cut Technology:  The 79ci has heavy duty blades that shred a single sheet of paper into 399 particles.

SilentShred: One of the features you'll probably love most! Perfect for shared workspaces, or home offices where you share your workspace with your family. πŸ˜‰

SafeSense: the 79ci has a safety sensor that completely disables the shredder when a hand touches the paper opening. No worries!

Enter to Win a Fellowes Shredder: the POWERSHRED 79ci

It's easy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post (below) stating what you would be shredding if you won. πŸ˜€ A winner will be selected in a random drawing from all comments left. One entry per person.

The Fellowes 79Ci is available at Staples for a suggested retail price of $239.99. For more information on Fellowes, please visit www.fellowes.com

In this day and age when identity theft is so prevalent, it behooves us all to own a shredder and the Fellowes shredder looks to be a good one!

    @sambpoet on Twitter

  2. Looks like a great shredder to have around the home office. I can surely use one of these since im starting off new in the online business arena.

  3. I have never shredded important documents and know I need to. I have years worth of business documents and tax prep paperwork that need to be gotten rid of, but because I can't shred them, I just keep hanging onto them. They are eating up valuable space and need to go! Shredding would be a blessing.

  4. I would love to shred all my bills. Is that legal??

    • Legal - yes. Recommended - no.

    • Stephanie says

I love the idea of shredding bills LOL!!! But what I really like to shred is all my junk mail. Then I use that paper for bedding in my worm bins. The worms love it and helps to make greate fertilizer for the garden!!

  5. I think I would use it to shred all old pictures of me and my ex πŸ˜‰ On a serious note, I really need to shred my old outdated income tax papers.

  6. Charles Moore says

This shredder would be a great help to finally get rid of some of the clutter in my office.

  7. Yep, two of the most important things in a shredder are "cross-cut" and an auto shut off if fingers get in there. Good call.

And might I recommend that you compost the shreddings instead of throwing them out.

  8. All those stinkin unsolicited credit card offers!

  9. I shred everything! Even blank paper - just for fun. But my shredder of six years is finally dead. Hmm, maybe it's because I shred blank paper? I would love a shiny new one.

  10. Rebecca Bishop says

A great tool to relieve STRESS! I just want to see all that nasty junk mail being ripped into ten thousand pieces! I think I will highlight it on my new website! Very USEFUL!

  11. I confess. I am a hoarder. There I said it. I guess. I mean can you be a hoarder but only in designated or specific places. If so....then my filing cabinet is one of my specific places.

I need this shredder to "un-hoard" my filing cabinet. Good grief!

  12. I most papers before I recycle them, especially if they have any names or address on them. Mine is getting pretty old, could sure use a new one!

  13. Natalie A. says

Very nice shredder, Lynn! I have owned a few in my day. None of them seem to be a nice and the one you have right now. But that may be because I refused to pay over $40 buck for one. And as Scott has so nicely pointed out somewhere in the comments above, I have and issue with collecting paper...lol! So, it would be great to get our hands on one of this bad boys πŸ™‚

  14. I would shred credit card applications ect. The shredder that I've been using jams sometimes so a new one would be nice.

  15. With a new heavy duty shredder, I would open up my house and allow the nice people in my neighborhood (mostly senior citizens) a chance to bring all of their unwanted paperwork and give them some peace of mind knowing that they don't have to woory about anyone getting their identities. Thanks Lynn!! What a great idea!

  16. Very timely as my shredder recently 'died' munching up old documents.

That machine was a cheap Fellowes model and it was a real pain. It would often jam and overheat, leaving me waiting until it was ready to go back to work. I sure could use a new one!

  17. Dan O'Keefe says

Desperately need a new shredder. Wore my old one out.

    Thanks

  18. Lois Carter Fay says

I would shred all the junk in my file cabinet that I no longer need to keep, but I'm too worried to throw it out. Do you think I could stuff my ex-husband in the thing, too?
    lois@recipeideas

  19. Julie Sheppard says

    Hi Lynn,
I would use this shredder to shred my old marriage certificate as soon as my divorce comes through!!
    Have a Great Day!!

  20. I live in one room so space is at a premium. My belongings include a too-full file box and a large trash bag full of documents to be shredded. Every shredder I've ever borrowed shreds in too-thick strips that you could easily put back together.

They're old tax documents, credit card offers, old bills ... no-longer-applicable financial history. I was living abroad until recently and came back to nothing; getting up on paperwork would feel SO good!

  21. Judy Jackson says

I would shred anything and everything that would break down. I'm using a borrowed shredder right now. The shreddings are used as mulch in my vegetable garden - they provide food for the worms, fertilizer for the plants, reflect light back up into the plant, and provide topics for my site.

  22. What to shred? What to shred? NOTHING! DON'T pick me. LOL

  23. I would love to win a shredder. We get a LOT of mail and I'm never quite sure about just throwing it away, so I tear it up in little pieces.

I would be shredding old bank statements plus voided checks and other documents that have personal information on them.

    Thanks!

  24. Allison Akers says

Shredding paper is therapeutic! I'd use it for any paper that had bee reused as much as possible, then use the shredded paper for shipping presents etc!

  25. This is a great item to win -- I have a lot of documents that I need to shred. I have some personal docs that I need to dump and can't just toss them in the trash.

  26. Gabrielle says

I printed out this entire packet of information for a house loan... but then I got a red flag when they needed $3500 up front and kept $500 if I didn't get approved before returning the rest back to me. I called the Clark Howard show and talked to a volunteer about it. Appears their website is brand new, they even have a stock photo up there with the big "X" in it and "istockphoto" on the image.

    Yeah, red flag # 2.

So now I have an entire book's worth of personal papers to shred! Thanks for the contest info!

  27. Vicki Kron says

Hey Lynn, This looks like a fabulous shredder. I'll use it in my office, right next to my desk.

  28. I have been in the market for a shredder. Timing is perfect! I would shred items such as statements, old bills, cheesy solicitations; anything that could cause an identity issue. What I really like is the ability to shred multiple sheets at once, and especially credit cards (plastic) and CD's. I don't suppose if you shred un-open bills they simply disappear?

  29. I would shred all my junk mail and credit card offers and maybe a credit card or two as well πŸ™‚

  30. I would shred all of my financial paperwork, my husband's papers from work and scholarship and school applications that I have filled out. In an effort to become more organized and to to cut down my "clutter" I have started to scan documents and keep the jpg files instead of the papers. Thus, I'm left with piles of papers that need shredding!

  31. I would be shredding pretty much anything that might have information on it that a bad guy could use to steal my identity. πŸ™‚

  32. Eric Switzer says

I would be shredding all my mail and doc. I don't need any more.

  33. Dan Stallard says

Lynn: I would shred ALL junk mail, along with all unsolicited bank/credit card/checks apps. I also monthly shred paperwork that has confidential client info that is no longer needed; this is not an option for me- it's the law!

  34. I shred everything that can be traced back to me or my family, but my shredder is old and I sure could use a new one!

  35. I would love to win this machine,i will be able to shred all of my unwanted documents.

  36. Kat Dennis says

I would shred all paid bills and junk mail. Any unwanted documents would make good fire starters.

  37. Elgielene says

Well, I'd certainly shred some old tax files, or financial papers I don't need anymore. And if it does potatoes, that would be awesome...scattered and covered and smothered.

Seriously...thanks for the chance at a nice machine. Nice stuff as usual.

  38. I would be shredding any outdated personal/business papers or junk mail that have ANY identifying information, including my name and address.

This always, always, always would include any unwanted credit card applications that come in the mail. I saw on 60 minutes or 20/20 a case where someone actually shredded an unwanted credit card application. It was the strip-style type shred, not confetti, and the thief TAPED TOGETHER all the strips, filled it out and the credit card company PROCESSED AND APPROVED the application.

  39. I've had a shredder by my desk for over 1o years now - not surprising as we sell them, but we use a confetti cut shredder for chopping up our catfood boxes. It's a great way to make the discarded boxes take up much less space in the recycling bin, or as starter fuel for bonfires. We have a lot of bonfires as we live in quite a rural area and are always cutting back trees and laurels in our garden.

Interesting post Lynn. Would love to see your stats on shredder sales!

    Keep up the great work.

    Martin

  40. This looks a really great shredder. I would use it to shred credit card bills, and anything else that comes in the mail with my personal information on it.

    love you Lynn:-)

    Chase

  41. Pretty much anything with identifiable information needs to be shredded these days. I shred as much as I can!

  42. Carol Ann says

Since my scissors makes my hand sore cutting up papers to shreds, I would greatly welcome Fellowes79Ci to come to my rescue and dispose of the scissors.

  43. Carol Ann says

Hmm. Still awaiting moderation. Well, how about if I shred all my bank statements, credit card statements, Federal and State tax forms, since 1993 for starts. That sounds like a big load Fellowes79Ci could easily handle. And my scissors would be retired and my hands would be protected. It would be a sweet day.

  44. Like others have said with identity theft on the rise I'd be shredding every single item before placing it in our recycling. We've been scanning documents to go paperless so I have huge piles of sensitive documents and it takes a long time to rip these up by hand!

  45. Well I would use a shredder to clean up my desk and an old filing cabinet. We are in the middle of making changes to our lifestyle and cleaning out our home and old papers is a part of this.

  46. I would shredd all the old papers in my attic

  47. Hi. I would be shredding tons of junk mail. I think I get a credit card offer every day. In addition, my son would like to take paper shreds and make a pillow.
    Thanks!

  48. I would be shredding all the silly credit card offers we get in the mail. Thanks, Lynn!

  49. james samy says

Shredder will definitely save the time to dispose things that are not important with name indicate in the documents. Also keeps the place clean and better lifestyles

  50. Carlene Kelsey says

    Lynn,
Have not used this shredder.... but it looks like a well made, stable one that would last a long time.
I would use it to shred all my old paid bills from 2007, 2008, 2009 etc. (why do I keep these anyway?) and all my old correspondence to and from my divorce lawyer from 2002!
