12 Hours and Counting!

My WSO (Warrior Special Offer) will be ending in about 12 hours. I thought I’d give you a quick update on how that has gone so far, and what my experience has been…

The Warriors are a super cool group to work with. In the past 36 hours of non-stop communication via PM, email and forum posts… everything has gone surprisingly smooth. I’ve met a lot of new people, and had the opportunity to check out a lot of really great websites… (Some of which I’ll mention in future posts, because they’re super cool ;) )

The Ad Inventory that I am selling through my WSO has been selling quick, so the offer is down to the line on both time left (for the special pricing) and available inventory. There are less than 60 spots left… and as I was typing that, I noticed 4 more spots were requested (some of which may be orders for multiple spots).

As I mentioned in a previous blog post (Selling Ad Space), this is my first run at selling advertising on my websites. I have mixed feelings about it, as the links that I place myself have always done incredibly well… so I was torn about ’selling them out’. The truth is, I will earn more in the long run placing my own links.

What I do like about the way I have set it up, though, is that there is plenty of room for me to reserve space for my own promotions - and still offer out the rest at reasonable rates. Of course, it remains to be seen how this will affect my affiliate income long term, but that’s something I will be keeping an eye on as I go.

I look forward to hearing feedback from advertisers too, to see what kind of results they get with their first month (or quarter) of advertising on the SSWT Forum. I am sure it will vary from case to case, depending on their link text and chosen category - as well as their landing page. But from what I have seen so far, much of it was very well selected.

I did have one little mix-up where I received an order for a spot where there were no spots left. Fortunately, the Warrior was very kind about the situation when I explained that it had just been filled only minutes before.

I happened to know him actually - it was Bruno from Ten Dollar Logo. Ring a bell? I had mentioned his website in one of my newsletter issues last year as “a great deal” after hearing about it from Paul Short.

Bruno told me in his reply that he didnt mind at all to just wait for the next available ad spot in that category… as they were currently booked anyway. And actually, he said:

“I had just released my website and I was looking for a place to advertise, since I had been visiting the Warrior Forum for quite a long time I decided to start a WSO. After my WSO went live I started getting around 20 orders a DAY, this number of orders kept the same for about 4 days, then Paul Short told me he talked to you about my website and that you would mention it in your newsletter.

After you sent that newsletter….We simply couldn’t keep up with the orders, it was way more than we could handle. During those weeks we made a few thousand dollars and though it happened a few months ago we’re STILL getting orders from that same newsletter ”

I would say that no other website brought us as many sales as your website did.”

Wow! :D That’s certainly great to hear!! — And if you’re needing a quality logo done inexpensively… go to: www.tendollarlogo.com . I’m sure Bruno can work you in ;)

(Just for the record: I did ask Bruno for permission to publish his unsolicited testimonial, and received no compensation for doing so in this blog post or in the original feature in the SSWT newsletter - just passing along a great resource, yet again!)

This has definitely been a great experience, as my first WSO. I have to run and respond to a few more advertisers, as emails have been coming in while I’ve been writing… but I’ll be sure to report in one last time once it ends.

P.S. I’m surprised more people havent jumped on the opportunity to place their link in the Members Free Classifieds category… considering the number of views it gets!! ;)

I considered jumping in for the Members Free Classified, but I thought long and hard about the type of traffic it gets (mostly people wanting to place an ad instead of people looking to purchase something). It would be perfect for someone who wants to build up more traffic to their classified site or something similar — just my opinion only. Unfortunately, none of my websites probably would have done well in there.

But, page views and topic counts were definitely on my list of things when deciding which categories to advertise in.

Now that you mention it, I’m also curious to see how others decided which categories to list their ads in.
