Success with Text Link Ads

November 15th, 2006 · 5 Comments ·

Text Link AdsWhile it didnt happen overnight, I was pleased to find an email in my Inbox this morning confirming that Text Link Ads had secured a sponsorship for one of my sites…

You might remember that I began testing various ad networks at the beginning of last month (approx 6 weeks ago), including AdBrite and Text Link Ads. These are networks that specifically sell text link sponsorships on your behalf, allowing you to earn money for displaying relevant text links in Ad Blocks on your websites.

For anyone else that is selling links (or considering it), I would encourage you to stick it out for 1-2 months before making any major decisions about which network or service to use. While immediate results would certainly be nice, it just may take some time before you begin securing suitable sponsorships.

That was the case for me at least - depending on your site, niche and your placement of the links… you may find that your ad inventory sells much quicker. However, if you dont see any results in the first few weeks, you might consider waiting it out for a few more before giving up on link sales altogether.

The first sponsored listing that Text Link Ads set up for me was on my Internet Marketing website. The spot was sold at $75 for one month, and of course I had the opportunity to review and approve this ad before it went live on my site.

TLA has a 50% revenue-sharing model, which means that I earn $37.50 per month for that link. Where you place these links on your page affects the pricing, as well as other site details such as PageRank and Traffic stats.

This of course encourages me to consider better ad placement, and to set up the TLA code on other niche sites that may do well in their network. If you are looking for additional ways to monetize your sites/blogs, Text Link Ads may be something you want to look into as well ;-) .

Best,

    Hi Lynn,

I have Text Link Ads on 2 of my sites since a few months ago and have had all the positions filled since the beginning.

Also, 90% of the advertisers have stuck with me since they first started. I too need to get the code on a few of my other sites.

BTW, the sites I have TLA on are not internet marketing related (they are mom and baby related), so probably why I had a very easy time filling out my spots.

Thats great to hear, Adriana! I appreciate you sharing results with us from your parenting site. I assumed which niche, along with other factors, would determine how well your inventory sold. Nice to hear confirmation on that!

Check out LinkWorth. I have used both them and TLA and am much more pleased with LinkWorth. LinkWorth seems to have a MUCH larger publisher inventory AND advertiser inventory. They have brought me many more links than TLA did. It is also set up that YOU set your price, not them.

I think you will be much more pleased with LinkWorth.

Thank you, Ed - I’m off to check them out ;)

Sure thing Lynn. Email me if you have any questions. I’m pretty familiar with their system. =)
