Cool Geek Gifts & Gadgets

Pexagontech.com is currently offering great deals on custom thumb drives with FREE laser engraving, now through the holidays. There is no minimum order on these, so they make great 'geek gifts' with a little personal touch.

I was talking with a sales rep the other day about one of these, after looking over their ad copy (which I've included below, if you're interested). You get two lines of engraving included free with your order, which will look like the picture you see here - not like the picture you see below that is part of their ad campaign. I confirmed this, as I didnt see options for font variations during the checkout process.

The obvious option is to include the name and phone number, or name and email address, which personalizes the thumb drive... and also provides contact information in the case that it gets lost. But how about some more creative ideas?

If you use thumb drives for daily or monthly backups, you can engrave each one with the appropriate day or month - along with specific backup information. Or you might use a different thumb drive for each backup, customizing it with the type of backup data that is on that particular drive.

Of course, if you are using it for general business, you might put your business name and tag line on your drive. I would be interested in hearing other creative ideas for the engraving - specifically as a gift for someone else. What would you have engraved on one of these??

Here's the ad copy that I got from them on the current special:

Gift cards are so last year. So what do you give that one person who has everything? How about a thumb drive with their name or business LASER ENGRAVED on the front?

Pexagontech.com is offering incredible deals on custom flash drives with FREE laser engraving. There are no order minimums so you can get just one drive engraved for your nephew to carry around his music files. Or perhaps get a thumb drive for each of your daughters so they can tote around their schoolwork on a keychain. How about that one special teacher who would love a personalized portable device for work and play? Forget the fruitcake, what your uncle really wants this year is his very own, custom miniature hard drive to backup his important data.

Again, there are NO order minimums and absolutely NO setup charge. Custom laser engraving from pexagontech.com is FREE on all Store-It Thumb Drives!

512MB, 1GB, 2GB or 4GB of portable storage in an ultra-small, Hi-Speed USB flash drive in your choice of 5 exciting colors. Durable, aluminum design with free custom laser engraving!

Store-It Thumb Drives allow you to take your important information and personal data with you wherever you go. Store your digital photos, music files, business documents, and more on an ultra-smaill, Hi-Speed USB flash drive. Easily access and transfer files between multiple computers. Neat! My husband is an IT Specialist and he has a dozen of these things lying around.

These would be great for product catalogs! You could upload your catalog/web site for your clients and engrave your contact info on the front. At 414.99 a pop and up, it's not something you'd want to give everyone, but it would make a great promo tool.

My husband uses these to store updates for all the computers he services at work, and it's so much easier than toting around a bunch of CD's. Just slip it in your pocket or purse!

I think that people should use these to store updates for all the computers he services at work, and it’s so much easier than toting around a bunch of CD’s. Just slip it in your pocket or purse!

  4. This is a great gift idea. I work in the IT arena, and I think that this would be a really great gift to share at the office. Thanks for the tip!

  5. I think I am going to get a couple to store all the photos I have taken with my digital cameras. I know it would clear up alot of space on my harddrive.

  6. That's a really clever gift idea, I will have to get one done for my friend in IT, he'd absolutely love it.

  7. Hi,
