Monday Morning Coffee Break

I got a bit of a late start this morning – or, well, relatively speaking I suppose. I got started around 6am, which is late for me. After taking some time off this weekend to spend with family and friends, sitting down here to work felt a bit overwhelming for the first hour or so.

There seems to be quite a bit going on around the net lately, and keeping up with it all can be more than a full-time job. That’s a good thing, though. I just make note as ideas come to me, place links and notes in draft for future blog posts, try to keep my bookmarks as neatly categorized as possible… and roll with it.

I like to start out by getting all of the little things out of the way, and then focus on the things that require more time and attention once my mind is cleared – and I’m on my 2nd cup of coffee ;-) . Those ‘little things’ including things like: a quick scan of email subject lines, checking messages on my MySpace account, looking over the news headlines on Yahoo!, checking affiliate stats, logging in for blog writing opps, checking in with my “go to guys”, etc…

This morning started out with lots of interesting little tidbits. Most of which I’ll post about in full once I get rolling here – so you can watch for more info on these from me. But for now I’ll just give you the quick version of everything I’m thinking and scanning this morning over coffee.

First to note is that two major Internet Marketing events just ended – one being the World Internet Summit in Malaysia, the other being WebmasterWorld’s PubCon in Las Vegas. I’m watching for photos and a recap of the WIS event on Kidino’s blog – he’s definitely the “go to guy” for anything happening in Malaysia. And I’m planning to hit Technorati for ‘pubcon’ tags to get the scoop on that event (which I unfortunately missed thanks to the flu).

Following PubCon was the PayPerPost Wedding, which I am looking forward to peeking in on and posting about here. My quick scan shows me that Julie (aka Jules) just got married! Jules is a fellow ‘Postie’ and also a frequent commenter here at ClickNewz – so definitely more on that later…

While I was logged in to PayPerPost, I noticed that there were still very few writing opps. It seems to have been slow the last few days. I have a feeling that will change by mid-morning, but it reminded me to check in on alternative blogging opps – and I’ll share those links with you later, in an upcoming entry. Of course, I checked in at ReviewMe as well – no new review opportunities there either.

Scanning the headlines on Yahoo got me a bit sidetracked – for all of 3 or 4 minutes anyway. There’s usually something interesting there, though not always business related. This morning it was an article titled Dating For Fun, which covered the topic of whether singles should date casually – or only with deliberate purpose. No comments from me on that one, and no future blog post on that topic either ;-) .

I also got word this morning that The Warrior Forum is shutting down the WSO (Warrior Special Offer) section. That tidbit actually stopped me in my tracks – I had to confirm, but sadly the news is true. More on that later of course, as well my take on the new Warrior Network.

Other notes include: interesting updates to the SSWT Discussion Forum (which I will announce in the next day or so), thoughts I am scribbling down about major ClickNewz changes, my home office makeover (hoping my new desk gets delivered before the US holiday!), and checking out LinkWorth.com – to name a few.

Time to pour another cup of coffee and get started ;-)

Best,

  1. [...] No, it’s not just a rumor: Allen says is indeed shutting down the WSO Section of the Warrior Forum… I got this news just this morning while sipping my coffee and my initial response was gasp-shock-gasp-shock “no!” [...]
