Home Office Ramblings
I’m particularly glad its Friday. It’s been one of those crazy weeks for me. On the one hand I can honestly say there was a lot accomplished – particularly productive, even. On the other, it just seemed insanely chaotic.
Both of the children have taken turns having sick days this week. Yesterday was assembly and a play at my daughters school. Add in the phonecalls, deliveries and appointments that spontaneously added themselves to my task list… and I’m surprised I managed to get anything done at all! Sometimes things run super smooth and sometimes they just dont. I guess as long as everything is getting done, its all good…
I have my entire home office torn apart of course – I’m cleaning, organizing and rearranging to set up the new desk and dual monitors. The desk came earlier this week, the monitors should arrive by UPS today. The desk actually came in a wood crate on a freight truck, and the delivery guy kinda left me hanging there… as I have no idea what kind of tool I need to break that crate open.
I have some friends I can call on to help out, so I’ll probably get all that worked out over the weekend. In the meantime I have been going through EVERYthing from the files to the storage closet. There has been plenty of work just getting things organized and rearranged. Its insane what you can collect over 10 years!
This whole organization kick has been incredibly motivating, by the way. And the timing couldnt have been better – it will be so nice to start the new year with a good handle on everything. At the rate I am moving, I should be able to kick off 2007 with a lot less stress and plenty of room to work straight through my goals.
The new year will mark 10 years in business for me, which really has me evaluating things a little more closely than usual. More on that in another post, I’m sure – my mind is in a blur trying to close out the month and put this week behind me at the moment.
Suffice it to say my wrists still work, my eyeballs havent burned out and I havent completely lost my mind – surprisingly. Yup, I’m good for heading into another decade I think
Let’s end this week already. I’d like to wrap it all up and start out on Monday morning with everything set up and ready to roll! And as I write that, I’m realizing that I am either going to have to bust a** today… or work through the weekend on it – so on that note, I’m off to make it happen.
Have a good weekend!

Presuming that is nailed together(The box the desk came in) your best bet is a pry bar(am sure there are other names) which has the nessacary angled tips to “pry” the box apart. A srewdriver and a hammer will wotk in a pinch.

Thank you Robert. Now if I just had a crow bar or a hammer, I’d be good to go
. I may see what I can do with it later tho, as my monitors arrived today and I’m itching to get it all set up!

Lynn,
Hope all goes well with the re-organization.
Have a fun weekend.
Thanks Ade!
At the moment, I feel like I have myself in over my head lol. I’m doing some major work from top to bottom – total makeover – and I think I’ve made more of a mess than anything at this point. That’s how it goes I think
You guys would so laugh if you could see what I was working on… LOL… I’ll blog about it later

Coincidentally, I decided to undertake a major reorganization myself this week. Originally I was just going to do my office, but once I got going though, it quickly turned into a *major* crusade that lasted almost 5 days!
When ever I start feeling a little “stuck”, I know it’s time to *clear* my environment a bit. Beyond my office, I went through the entire attic throwing away anything I hadn’t used in a year, shredded every document that was older than 5 years and pulled every book and CD I knew I would never use again. On a roll, I hit the master bedroom closet next pulling anything I hadn’t worn in a year.
I finished up last night about 6pm after taking the last load of clothes over to Goodwill and dropping off all the books/CDs at the library. My garage is still crammed with a ton of garbage to throw (trash pickup on Tuesday!), but the house in general looks and *feels* amazing. For me, getting rid of clutter is one of the most empowering things I can do to fire up my energy level and creativity.
The best bit was when my wife came home last night from a 7-day business trip to California. Man, if you want to get on your wife’s good side, just let her come home to a clean house…
I wish someone would have told me about that sooner!
LOL I can only imagine!
Way to go Kirk!
