Network Marketing Tips

I just returned from a great dinner meeting with a local couple – Jason & Tish Perry. They are involved with Candle Wealth, which is a network marketing company that sells kits for making your own soy candles at home.

We were introduced through a mutual friend, and Jason & Tish were very interested to learn more about promoting their products and opportunity on the internet. They are currently working the local market, in addition to setting up at shows and fairs. The response has been very positive, but they are looking to expand and automate.

Of course, it’s difficult to explain ‘online marketing’ over one dinner… but we did make fast friends at least, which was lots of fun!

They dont actually sell candles, but instead they offer kits so that people can make their own candles. I thought this was a really neat concept, especially considering how creative you could get with scents and colors. Not to mention shapes and holders. A creative person could really create some unique products that they could sell!

Once I got home I checked out the website at www.SultrySoy.com to get an idea of what they had to start with, and anything I might be able to suggest. It appears as if they own this domain name, and have it redirected to a company replicated page – a lead capture page.

While pages like this dont generally rank well in the major search engines, they do convert well. The Perry’s are marketing their website through business cards, fliers, word of mouth and other offline means at the moment.

Online, the options include: Pay-Per-Click advertising, traffic exchange programs, CraigsList.org, MySpace, etc. The Pay-Per-Click being the most difficult to learn and also compete in, I would suggest that they start by networking and using the free advertising methods. I did mention my recent MySpace Marketing Profile, which I thought might be helpful.

I also suggested the idea of a Blog, which I thought Tish would particularly enjoy. Since they have been in the business they have come up with some of their own candle recipes, which would make for great content! Some how-to tips and ideas, creative suggestions, photos and/or video walk-through’s. She could also suggest ways to promote the business, or talk about recent trade shows and craft fairs they have attended.

This would give them the opportunity to get pages ranking in the major search engines, and attract a variety of visitors. Those that may just want to buy kits, those that are interested in the business, etc. Through the Blog, they could promote their SultrySoy.com website of course – and it would be a great way for them to have a more personal presence on the web that would appeal to people who have met them in person.

Since I’m not in Network Marketing myself, and havent been for awhile now, those were the only ideas that I had off the top of my head. I’m looking for more great suggestions to pass on to them so it would be excellent if you could ‘Leave a Reply’ below if you have any ideas that would work well for this type of company.
