Free Podcast Hosting

January 29th, 2007 · 3 Comments ·

Audio, video and other dynamic options are more popular with website visitors this year than ever. Not only do they enjoy them… they have come to expect them! This is certainly not ‘news’, but after reading Michel Fortins report (Death of the Salesletter), I have given even more thought to the ways I can liven up my static websites.

Michel gave some great examples and creative ideas in the report of course, so if you havent had a chance to read that you can download it free at his blog: Death of the Salesletter. If you are at a loss as to what you would put into a video or audio file, I’m sure Michel’s report will spark some ideas.

One of the main issues that website owners run into is disk space and bandwidth restrictions. That, and the technical side of creating multi-media content. But today I found a Free Podcast website, which makes it super-easy for you to begin publishing audio files.

Not only do they have a simple web-based process that anyone with a microphone can use… but they have a money-making system in place for their podcasters as well. They already have a database of advertisers, and you will earn money each time your podcast is accessed. Obviously the more subscribers you have, the more money you will earn.

There is no cost involved in recording or hosting your podcast. The service is completely free. Check it out - this may be just what you need to add some “sticky” to your own websites!

Lynn under terms and conditions, My Podcast states it is not to be used by companies.

“This MyPodcast site is for the personal use of individual members and viewers only and may not be used in connection with commercial endeavors. Organizations, companies, and/or businesses, therefore, are prohibited from using the MyPodcast service or site or member personal identifying information for commercial purposes.”

What a shame! Seems strange since they are also soliciting advertisers!

Ahh - I didnt read that. Thanks for pointing it out, Lynn! It does seem odd, especially since they are targeting people who would like to make money online… I’ll contact them and see if we can get some clarification on that.

Email sent - I also asked them where we could find a directory of current podcasts. I wasnt able to find them through the site, but would love to see how that is laid out for listeners/subscribers.

    I’ll keep you posted ;)
