I addressed this originally in September when I first joined PayPerPost. See PPP Bashing. Personally, I think much of the bashing is done simply for the publicity surrounding the launch and growth of PPP.

I even polled ClickNewz readers at one point, which resulted in an overwhelmingly positive response. As for Calcanis and his rants, here are two of my previous responses:

I personally think it's a great infrastructure for both advertisers and bloggers. It almost reminds me of when Overture first started serving ads (i.e. paid search) in the search engine results, I think 2001 or 2002. I remember there was an uproar in the media about the idea of “manipulating the search engine results”. Now, today every brand has adopted this model of advertising and it’s becoming (if not already) a billion dollar business; and it produces a strong ROI in most cases.
