Affiliate Incentives
Some of the major merchants online will offer incentives or contests to their affiliates from time to time. It encourages affiliates to work harder, and creates a little competitive fun as well. In addition to earning your commissions, you might win a cool trip or a new laptop. It’s a great strategy for affiliate managers to use, and a positive for everyone involved.
One of the merchants that I work with – Doba – is currently running a year-long contest between their affiliates, and will be giving away a 5-Day Caribbean Cruise for Two to their top 3 earners in 2007.
I received an email update from them last night, regarding the “Winner Circle Ranking” for this contest. I am currently ranking #11 out of all active affilates. Not far at all from #3! Does that motivate me to make more sales for them? Sure it does! 
I logged in to get some more information on it, and noticed that they also have a March Madness Tournament going on. This definitely got my attention. Here is how it works:
March Madness Tournament
On March 8, we will be selecting our top 64 lead generating affiliates to be placed in our Tournament Bracket. Seeding will be random, and advancement in the tournament will be based on Leads. The Rounds will be determined as follows:
Round 1: March 15 (winners determined by leads referred from March 8 – 14)
Round 2: March 19 (leads from March 15 – 18)
Round 3: March 22 – Sweet 16 (leads from March 19 – 21)
Round 4: March 26 (leads from March 22 – 25)
Round 5: March 29 – Final 4 (leads from March 26 – 28)
Round 6: April 2 – Championship (leads from March 8 – April 1)The bracket will be published here and updated on the dates above. Each affiliate will only be referred to by their ID number.
The Champion will have their commission DOUBLED until June 30 – that’s $10 per lead and 20% of sales for 3 months! Second place will receive a doubled sales commission – 20% of sales until June 30. And third place will get 15% revenue share on sales until June 30.
I took a peek but I am not currently in the Bracket for this particular incentive… but it certainly motivates me to crank up my campaigns

I really like their commission structure which pays you per lead AND a percentage of sales, and you also get credit for all phone orders.
