I've always thought that eBay was a good starting point for building a customer base and driving traffic to a website - and this strategy can be used with physical products or things other than ebooks and info products as well.

When you have large portals that attract masses of traffic, like eBay and MySpace and others, it pays to look at the ways you can use them (legitimately, without spamming) as a marketing tool.

eBooks are just one avenue to go with eBay. Another is "information products". Take a look at James Brausch's blog. It talks a lot about information product as the way to go instead of ebooks. You can also take a look at his information product creation course. It's not bad http://www.InfoProdCreation.com.

Yes, eBay can certainly be viewed as a first step. In fact, that may be the only way to look at eBooks on eBay these days with all the competition going around. eBooks selling for $0.01 was unheard of several years ago. Now it is common. Probably, a better way to go is to "give" it away as a first step.

Just another geurilla marketing idea.
