It’s Friday night, the house is quiet, and I’m having a nice hot cup of coffee… so what does an ‘internet marketing geek’ like myself do on a night like this? Check out cool sites and kick it on Skype with my geek-buds of course! Okay, so I’m too old to ‘kick it’ - or say that at least (my kids would laugh
), but it sounded good lol.
Anyway… the fun coffee-break site for the night has been dnScoop. It was mentioned on my discussion forum earlier today, and I thought I’d check it out and see what a few of my sites are worth. It is basically a domain name research tool that gives you value, stats, history, etc based on a variety of data sources. It’s a great overall look at your sites/domains… and it’s fun!
Check out these values on well-known sites, as shown on dnScoop:
Most Valuable Sites Searched So Far
yahoo.com - $2,147,483,647
amazon.com - $1,856,624,000
msn.com - $1,819,550,000
google.com - $1,687,460,000
wikipedia.org - $1,495,936,000
adobe.com - $1,494,075,000
hotmail.com - $1,479,000,000
microsoft.com - $1,347,060,000
bbc.co.uk - $1,223,400,000
sina.com.cn - $1,222,194,000
aol.com - $1,217,966,000
myspace.com - $1,212,120,000
com.com - $1,208,906,000
gmail.com - $1,206,200,000
ebay.com - $1,196,432,000
Here is the value, according to dnScoop, of a few of my sites:
- ClickNewz.com $13,100
- SelfStartersWeeklyTips.com $14,030
- PassiveIncomeGuide.com $251
- MidnightMarketingSnack.com $5,810
Obviously they are worth FAR more than that to me, and there’s no way in h*ll I’d sell out at this point ;). Leave a Reply below and share your link, and it’s value!
Best,

Ok so I gather I’m a geek too. LOL. I’m sitting here reading your blog on a Friday night. I also check out my other friends blogs on a night like tonight, very rainy and cold.

Ok, I’m embarrassed. I knew my traffic was very low on most of my sites, but eek. It’s funny to see what is considered “valuable” to others compared to what I would consider valuable to me…
http://www.wallpapertrends.com is: $589
http://www.wallpaperillusions.com is: $318
http://www.memoirsbyme.com is: $269
http://www.paperitfun.com is: $206
http://www.muralsmuralsmurals.com is: $148
This is a very interesting tool…thanks for sharing…it was fun to check it out.

You’re welcome - and I know what you mean! I am sure those sites are MUCH more valuable to you than the rates they gave you - am I right?

Monetarily, yes they’re more valuable to me because it’s how we make our living. But besides that, the time & energy that went into developing them and the impact some of them have had on my subscribers adds even more value…which, I’m sure you’ll agree can be priceless.

Absolutely

Cool tool, Lynn. According to it, my OptiNiche website is only worth $18,444, but as many have already said — it’s worth a whole lot more than that to me.

sorry to bother you again Lynn, but i have to say that i’m really hooked on this, maybe for the wrong reasons.
instead of trying to benefit from it myself, i’ve spent hours looking at rival sites, which i guess is of benefit to me i guess.
but i’m hooked.
i guess i should get out more often? but it’s such a good tool.
thanks again.

Lynn, that was fun! My homeschool site is worth $685, according to dnScoop. And in addition to having a little fun, I did learn some interesting things from that little coffee break.
