Wireless Satellite TV

A friend of mine who works in the satellite industry pointed out the new SAT-GO service by DirecTV the other day. It looks like my prediction on “everything going satellite” is becoming a reality…

With a 17″ LCD screen and lithium-ion battery, the SAT-GO pretty much looks like a bulky laptop computer. But the concept is very appealing. While I am not a big television watcher myself, I do like the idea satellite/wireless in general.

I can see internet and cellular going all-satellite in the next decade, which would mean “anytime anywhere wireless access”. As it is now, you either have to be near a Wi Fi source or have a cellular modem to get internet access when you are away from the office. I rather like the idea of being able to “tap in” at the local park though – dont you?
