Email Notification is Back!

April 4th, 2007 · 3 Comments ·

For the last several days, or actually since I activated the Presscut Theme (the new design), the email subscription form over to the right has not been working.

It worked fine in the old theme, so I was racking my brain trying to figure out where the problem was in the code. It turns out that the searchform.php file in the Presscut Theme does not have a closing form tag (/form). If you are using this theme, and attempting to use other forms in your sidebar… this is your fix!

A BIG thanks to Steve MacLellan for pointing this out to me!

If you were trying to get on the Email Notification list in the last few days and ran into an error… it is now fixed and you can sign up for notifications again. The emails are managed by Aweber’s Feed Broadcaster, and simply send you an email message with the 8 most recent entries from ClickNewz.

This means that you will receive an email every couple of days, or a couple of times a week - depending on post frequency. Those of you that are already subscribed, your feedback on the frequency and number of posts included (8) is welcomed. It is easy to make changes with the Feed Broadcaster - so let me know if you want to see more or less!

Best,

Glad you got that figured out! I had something similar happen. On one of my blogs I use Nucleus and had picked out a skin called classic-emotion. Well, my archives would not work. I kept looking and looking to make sure everything was there. It was. On about the 20th search over every single thing, I found that in one little place “classic-emotion” had been typed as “classice-motion.” I was so glad I found it! Lynn

    Hi Lynn,

I just started blogging over at wordpress and have attempted to put an opt in box for email updates through Aweber. When I post the code into a widget, the system strips the code. After checking the FAQ, this is what I found:

Anything that has a line like this:

or that uses Form or Input tags for instance is not allowed. There are other tags but the effect is the same - they disappear.

There are no exceptions to this.

How did you manage to get your Aweber code into your sidebar?

Thanks for any suggestions or tips!

    I appreciate you!
    Deb

    Hi Deb,

Are you blogging on wordpress.com, or do you have WordPress installed on your own hosting account? If at WordPress.com, that may be the problem…
