Add a Widget, Win a Gadget
DVDPlay is holding a contest and will be giving away an Apple iPhone or a Nintendo Wii. To register for the contest, you have to add a widget to your blog or site that displays the latest movie releases. In exchange for this little piece of real estate on your web page, you will be entered in the contest to win one of these gadgets.
The widget must remain on your site, blog or profile until June 11th of 2007. Yes, you can even register for the contest by placing this widget on your MySpace profile, or any other social networking site, so it is open to anyone whether you have your own website or not!

This would work well on related sites, obviously – if you have a website or blog about entertainment or movie stars or movies… and you feel the widget wouldnt directly compete with the way you monetize your pages.
The DVDPlay new DVD rental widget is at least attractive and self-updating. Its an interesting marketing strategy for DVDPlay to get some exposure, and I imagine the incentive to win an Apple iPhone or a Nintendo Wii will draw some people in…
I’m curious if you feel the gadget is a good incentive to place the widget (if you have/had a related website or blog, of course). Your thoughts?
