A Visit With Lisa
My sister Lisa lives just outside of Boston, so I spent an afternoon with her after PubCon before returning to Tennessee. I mentioned that in my Home Sweet Home post:
I stayed on an extra day to visit my sister, who lives just outside of Boston. It was like two different worlds only a half hour outside of the city – 20 degrees warmer, beautiful scenery… and it reminded me very much of home. She has a terrific place there in North Grafton, and I had a great lunch and a nice time with her and the kids.
… so I thought I’d share a few photos with you. The one above, by the way, is of our daughters and was taken on one of her visits to Tennessee a couple of years ago. Aren’t they sweet?? They are cute little cousins, but they really remind me of Lisa and I when we were growing up.
My sister is cool. I know more than a few of you might remember me saying “she’s so good at it, she gets ONE result in Google when she does a search!”
– she’s in research

Anyway, when I told her I’d be in the area for PubCon, she says “oh, is that like a pub crawl?”. I just said “Um… yeah, pretty much”
hehe (you have to admit, that’s what it sounds like!). We made plans to get together before I flew home, which was nice – I hadnt yet had an opportunity to visit her home in MA.
In this photo, Lisa and her husband Nick thought it would be funny to pose as American Gothic. I think that’s a rake instead of a pitchfork… but it was funny nonetheless
I think my favorite place in the whole house was the back deck. We had a nice lunch in the warm sun there under the maple tree. It was interesting to me how different her maples were than mine… beautiful.
We spent quite a bit of time outdoors, as it was a beautiful day and I was admiring her flowers - especially the creeping flock. I was so tempted to pluck, but I didnt have any room left in my bags (dont laugh, Chrissie!) and Lisa said she would mail me some clippings (nudge, wink
).
After my crazy week in Boston, it was nice to enjoy some true southern hospitality and spend some time with my sister and the kids before jumping back on a plane.
Thank you, Lisa – I had a great time, and it was so good to see you again!

Note: my mother just informed me that it’s not creeping flock, it’s creeping phlox
Sorry about that!
