iBegin Source and Local Search
To understand iBegin Source, which is a “local wiki”, you first need to know what a Wiki is… You are probably familiar with Wikipedia, which is a free online encyclopedia. Not only is it chock full of information, but it is also interactive. You can add files, pages or information to existing pages.
The definition of a Wiki is basically a website, software or engine that allows its users to add, edit and remove contently freely. As a side note, Google obviously favors Wikis as Wikipedia shows up in the top two results for most information searches.
It’s no secret that Local Search is HOT right now, and only getting more and more popular. This is a trend that is here to stay as more people are turning to the web, even for local information such as: news, weather, directions, business listings and more.
There are a lot of things that can be done with the local data found at iBegin Source, many more things than I’ll mention here. For reference, see this article. Here, though, I’ll keep it simple and just say this:
If you have a business that relies on, or could benefit from, local searches – you need to make sure your business information is found in the iBegin Wiki, and that it is accurate and complete.
When you visit the site, and surf through a few pages – perhaps view the listings in your own city – then you will undoubtedly see a variety of ways that this site can be useful to you.
