TestFreaks Launches Alpha Version

Web 2.0 and Consumer Generated Advertising are hot topics online this year. Websites are popping up everywhere that feature opinions & reviews from unbiased sources, interactivity and “shopping gossip”.
One such site, that just launched in Alpha version, is Test Freaks. Planning official launch within the next few months (late spring 2007), they are currently inviting users to become part of the development process.
What’s interesting about TestFreaks.com is that they are pulling opinions and reviews from a variety of online sources – such as forums and blogs. Their focus is gadgets and consumer electronics, so if you have a blog or website on these topics then this new site will be of particular interest to you.
For example, you can find user opinions on items like digital cameras or cell phones. While the site has limited functionality during this pre-launch phase, you can expect much more from TestFreaks in the near future.
I can see myself using this type of site to search for consumer reviews prior to a major purchase. I’ve often used Amazon.com for that same reason – because you can read user reviews on specific products or models.
I’m in the market for a new television for example, and you can bet that once I find a model I like… I’ll be checking in online before I make the buy
.
Best,
