Hometown Brag

I’ve been tagged to participate in the
Local Community Events meme, hosted by Grokodile.com – a local blog directory. The theme is community events such as celebrations or festivals for our local area.
Since I have not lived here very long, and its a very small town, I’ll tell you instead some of the key features of the area and some of the reasons why I love this little spot of Tennessee…
I live in Warren County, more specifically the town of McMinnville which is the county seat. Warren Co. is famed for being the “Nursery Capital of the World” – and thats trees, not babies.
The area is full of natural beauty with mountains, caves, creeks, water falls and rivers. The weather is moderate with mild winters and warm summers, so you can enjoy the outdoors almost year-round.
There’s nothing like reading a good book down by the river, feeding the ducks during a picnic lunch, or hiking the falls areas in the spring. Just 15 minutes away is Rock Island State Park with over 800 acres of water falls, trails, beaches, swimming and rock hopping.

The cost of living is low, the small towns are full of southern charm and the view is scenic for as far as you can see. Major cities are close enough for convenience, though. In just over an hour of drive time, you can be in either Chattanooga or Nashville from here.
Some of the main local attractions include:
Fall Creek Falls State Park
Burgess Falls State Park
Rock Island State Park
Cumberland Caverns
It’s an ideal place to raise children and enjoy life
I’d love to hear about YOUR hometown! If you blog about your local area, be sure to link to the Local Community Events meme, and also leave a comment here so that we can check it out!
Best,

Many of items you wrote about in your post are also true about the general area of Seattle, Wa. Granted it certainly isn’t a small town and it certainly rains more. On the plus side besides equally impressive scenery, lake, mountains, etc we have access to Puget Sound(which is part of the Pacific Ocean)
How nice – I love the ocean! Do you get opportunity to visit Puget Sound often?
