ClickNewz! Internet Marketing Blog

Saturday Morning Email

May 5th, 2007 · 10 Comments ·

I was checking my email over coffee this morning, and noticed a response to the newsletter I sent out on Thursday evening.

It was a rather long issue about Blog Marketing and Web 2.0, and I’ll tell you more about that in another post here at ClickNewz when I get an opportunity.

At any rate, I had included a link to the Authority Black Book as an excellent free resource on the topic, and received this response about it…

Lynn, thank you so much for this black book! I’m only on page 15 and had to stop to send you this email. I feel so very fortunate to have met you! This is explaining it in a way I really can understand. A big HUG from Vera over here. :-)
~ Vera, ScrapVenture.com
p.s. I always look forward to your emails and feel like you’re out there watching for things for me. Thank You!!!

That’s the kind of email that would make any publishers day! :D Of course, I replied to Vera and told her as much, and she gave me permission to reprint her comment here.

Vera has been a reader, and active member of the SSWT Discussion Forum for close to 3 years now. She has a website to help others with their Scrapbooking Business, so if you work in scrapbooking, be sure to check that out! Or if you just enjoy scrapbooking as a hobby, see her Scrappers Talk Radio website.

(Thank you again, Vera - it’s always nice to hear from people who are reading and enjoying the Weekly Tips!)

Others have commented on the Authority Black Book as well. It seems that readers having nothing but positive things to say about this one! You can download a copy for FREE at http://download.authoritysiteprofits.com/, or simply click on the book image below:

Enjoy! ;)

That book has poor quality unoriginal content. It’s written just to generate traffic and many ‘advices’ shows that the author(s) don’t care about providing real good information. The copywriting style is done ‘by the book’ with the same old clichees of :
    1. lots of bolded and yellow marked text
    2. the ‘ x tips ‘ formula
    etc
And oh yeah, Vera, I’m just on page 12 and I had to stop to write this comment.

Btw, the Ultimate Tag Warrior is a very poorly written plugin performance wise. And they recommend it.

For me, I trust what Lynn sends out and was very glad to have read the book. I gather we’re all going to be at different levels of experience and what some learn from one, others may not.

I too appreciate Lynn taking the time to send this e-book.

Perhaps there were some things that were not perfect, but there was much valuable information.

Yes, perhaps the e-book was written to generate traffic, but what e-book isn’t these days?

I personally found the resources very helpful since I use RSS on some of my sites and have considered moving to WordPress for others.

    Thanks Lynn!

Personally, I think it is chock full of resources and tips, and well worth the read. I agree that it is a compilation of resources, but many of them are exceptional resources.

If you just pick up ONE good tip out of this guide that you can apply and gain something from… it will have been worth the time invested. But I am on page 26 and have already picked up 3 cool nuggets myself.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I didnt find it to be poor quality or bad information - so far, not at all.

Anyone else want to share their thoughts on The Authority Black Book?

Boy, nothing like controversy huh. Isn’t that what the author said the kind of content you should publish on a blog should be? LOL

First I’d like to say…congratulations Vera on what you were able to take from the book. Use it, and I wish you great success, truly. ;)

Second, thank you Lynn for offering this free resource. (Remember Lynn did not write this book…she offered it as a free resource.)

Finally, I did a quick (very quick, I might add) read over half of it this morning, and I didn’t particularly enjoy reading it…not my style of writing. However, like with anything, you take the good and leave the bad behind. Remember this was a FREE resource.

It mentioned quite a bit that I’m not familiar with, so I intend to research it further. Plus, I don’t know a whole lot about the author, so taking that into consideration, I will see what more I can learn about the subject before overhauling what I’m presently doing.

    That’s my two cents. ;)

Smart thinking, Carrie - and very much in line with what I am doing myself. The writing style of the author is not my preference either, so I am reading the book strictly for resources and how-to information at this point.

And like you, researching and putting consideration into the options mentioned. I think that is a smart move no matter what guide or information you are reading. Too many people will toss everything they have been working on to “try something new” which is never a good idea in my opinion.

  • Pay Day Now // May 7, 2007 at 8:20 pm

    So true,

Tossing what you’re currently doing for something new is never a good idea.

However, I was already considering WordPress, but I had no idea that there were so many cool plug-ins (or where to find them).

So I have to say thanks (I’ve read through the entire book) and only just starting to check out the resources.

It’s definitely something I’ll be referring back to in the future.

  • Lynn Terry // May 7, 2007 at 10:33 pm

Ahh - WordPress is definitely preferred ;)
I’ve said similar things myself in an article titled Social Networking, so I do agree with that point.

If you have any questions during the transition, or need any help, feel free to email me directly (email is on the About page here at ClickNewz) or join us in the Blogging category on my Discussion Forum. I’d be happy to help you any way I can, as I switched from Blogger myself just over a year ago.

I agree with you - there are some great plugins to check out, and I intend to refer back to it and research each one myself!

    Best,
    Lynn Terry

Thanks Carrie, I felt the resources were great and it was an easy read. So many ebooks get into so much technical stuff that I lose interest pretty quick. I know I’ve paid for ebooks and have been disappointed, so to get one for free and be happy with it, is good news for me. :-)
