More Notes on MyLot
This is a quick update on MyLot, which I mentioned in a post earlier today…
After using the site for a bit today on and off, I am finding it to be quite interesting. They allow you to post links with your topics, or with your responses. Like Yahoo Answers, this seems to be a good source for targeted traffic.
I am not sure what kind of weight those one-way links will carry in the long run, but time will tell.
Also, heavy posters are earning around $30/month it seems. These are people that are posting discussions or responding to discussions 20+ times a day. One topic or response takes less than a minute of course, but this is not a lot of money – more of a kickback for the users that truly enjoy the site.
In fact, here is a comment I found today by one of the regular users:

I am a member of Associated Content but I still come to MyLot regularly. MyLot is so much more than a way to make some extra money. It is a wonderful way to meet new people, have some intelligent discussions, learn new things, get great advice and have some fun. The money is just a bonus, but if it were to go away I would still come here. You have to fully understand and appreciate all that Mylot is if you realy want to stay. If you are here just for the money, then you will be disappointed.
Outside of potential with links & money… the site is actually FUN. I’ve checked in a few different times and enjoy the interest groups and the discussions – its a neat way to meet people and sort of a Web 2.0 version of personal chat rooms & discussion boards.
Thumbs-up on the site model!
Best,

This sounds interesting. I’ve been floating around blogs focused on online earnings and have seen quite a few people trying out myLot. I have glossed over it because it is usually one of the bottom earners. I might give it 2 hours a week of my time if it is worth it.
Its not a huge money-maker, mind you. But it IS a fun community, and much like Yahoo! Answers, it gives you an opportunity to set up a profile and interact with your target market as well.
It’s a fairly new site. I have a feeling they will have to put bans or at least policies on all the link sharing at some point. Once the ‘spammers’ get involved it will become more annoying than fun.
As with all social networking sites, the opportunity is there to build relationships and add value – with obvious benefits. Unfortunately some will join the site simply to *take* value from it, and add nothing to it.
It should be interesting to see how the site develops over time. But for now it certainly has its perks.

p.s. http://www.associatedcontent.com is another site that apparently pays for content submissions and interaction on the site. I havent checked that one out, but saw it mentioned on MyLot. Apparently several of the members are involved with both sites.

I heard about MyLot earlier from a Japanese blogger friend of mine and i liked their way of giving extra income to great bloggers of this century.
